It was not an asteroid but it seemed to have the same specifications as a star, just that it was much smaller than one and it was heading straight to Earth. 

The countries joined together and used all kinds of state-of-the-art spacecraft and missiles to destroy the star before it hit the Earth.

The star that was originally a whole was eventually blown into countless pieces that scattered all over the Earth.

As the star fell, an unknown virus swept the world within hours, infecting more than half of the population.
