Today is the day when Ethan will apply to my college. I tagged along with him on his way to college only because I didn't want my mom to make me do chores at home.
Thankfully, instead of walking, we decided to ride a train instead since it was kind of cheap and faster than walking.
While we were walking to the nearby train station to buy train tickets, a man wearing a suit and sunglasses suddenly barged into someone's hotdog stand and pointed a gun at their head as they showed them a picture of someone on a piece of paper.
"Have you seen this guy in your neighbourhood?" the man asked.
"I- uh.." the vendor stuttered and started scanning the place until his eyes met ours. "There!" the vendor pointed at Ethan.
Before I could say anything, I felt Ethqn's hand grabbing my arm tightly as we both ran away from the man.
The man tried to shoot us but before he could kill us, we both managed to disappear from his sight.
"Ethan, who is that guy?" I asked him.
"He's probably another one of my father's minions. We need to kill that guy before he can tell my father that I live with you guys here." He said as he pulled out a knife from his bag.
"But our train is about to leave. And why did you even have a knife in your bag?"
"Learned it from someone." Suddenly, the two of us heard footsteps which were definitely from the man earlier.
"Stay quiet. Let's ambush him."
The footsteps were getting louder and louder with each step. The man even started randomly shooting bullets everywhere.
"Where are you, sir Ethan? Could you be in this trashcan? Nope! You know, your father is offering me a great amount of money if I catch you... too bad I can't kill you though. So let's make things easier by you surrendering to me!"
'This guy's crazy for money!'
As soon as the man appeared in Ethan's vision, he charged at him and stabbed the man with no hesitation at all.
The blood spilled all over his hand and some even went to his face. I don't even think we can go to the train anymore.
"Hey, Karli, do you have a tissue?"
"I don't think tissue is enough to clean that."
"It's better than nothing."
To make things simple, (I just didn't know what to put) I helped him wipe off the blood from his hands.
"Should we leave his dead body laying on the ground?" I asked.
"Let's just throw him into the garbage can over there." Said Ethan as he pointed at an empty garbage can.
"It's empty so he could definitely fit in there."
And so, we threw him into the garbage, then turned around to see the puddle of blood on the ground.
"Yeah, we should probably leave."
"Agreed."
We both ran away from the streets and finally arrived at the train station after walking for a few minutes.
Ethan went to buy our tickets while I bought two bottles of water and a few snacks for us to eat during the ride even if it was only a few minutes long.
After we finished buying a few things, we then went inside the train, peacefully waiting to arrive at the train stop.
The ride was fine and nothing unusual happened at all.
We arrived at the train stop and we both stood up from our seats. We then left the train station and walked a few meters and finally arrived outside the school.

After a few hours, he finally left the room and walked towards me.
"They told me that they'll contact me if I pass or not." He said.
"Oh okay. It's already afternoon. Mom said she can't go home because she has too much work on her hands. Wanna eat in a restaurant or something?" I said.
"Why not? Look, that's the place where we all ate before I left America. Let's eat there."
"That's a great idea! Come on, let's go!" I said.
We walked across the road and entered the restaurant. It was empty like it was back then but it was the designs are more lively than usual.
We both sat down as the waitress gave us the menu. The two of us ordered our favourite food and it all tastes as good as I remember. We both chatted about things that happened when we were in high school and some random things. After we finished eating, we left the restaurant with a smile on our faces as if we didn't kill someone earlier.

"To be honest, this day was pretty fun." I said.
"It is. I hope no one's going to ambush us on our way back home." said Ethan.
"Don't jinx it!" I told him as shivers went down my spine.
"Oh come on, Karli. My father is smart enough to not send anyone to go after me, knowing damn well he taught me how to outsmart assassins in multiple ways."
I didn't respond and just walked closer to him just in case someone did try to ambush us. Just as we were walking down the street, Ethan stretched his hand in front of me which stopped me from walking.
"I told you not to jinx it!" I said as I lightly hit his elbow."Why do I feel like we are in a survival game?"
"Could you shut up for a minute? Let me jus- wait, where's my bag?" he said as he panicked. "I swear it was just on me earlier."
"Maybe because your dad sent ninjas instead of assassins?"
"Yeah, we're gonna die." He said looking like his soul left his body.
"HEY, DON'T LOSE HOPE YET!" I said as I violently shook his body.
While we were panicking, a tall masculine figure with a mask suddenly appeared behind Ethan.
"Ethan, behind you!"
Before the masked guy could capture us, Ethan grabbed my hand and quickly dodge him.
"You're not getting away from me!" said the unknown male.
"To be honest, if I were you, I wouldn't dare to steal that bag you're holding." said Ethan as he pointed at the bag which was his.
"Huh? What do you mean?" he looked at him with a confused look. Ethan and I started running away as the man scanned the bag if there was anything in it. He then turned his face to us to see us running away like kids who accidentally broke their window. 'Why are these kids running away even if they know that I can catch up to them?'
Before he tried to run towards them, he heard a faint noise which seems to be coming from the bag. He opened the bag to see what was inside it. His eyes widened as he saw bombs ticking inside the bag and suddenly, an explosion happened.
"So that's why we didn't go to the mall." I said as I heard the explosion.
Ethan fell to his knees and started panting.
"I think we really are in a survival game." he said.

We finally arrived home and I took the spare keys my mom gave me since she always comes home during night time.
As we entered the door, the two of us fell down the couch and landed on our faces.
"This is the worst day I've ever had."
"Agreed. I even blew up my bag."
"Atleast we're alive."
"The won't even kill us so it's fine even if they captured us. We just need to find a way out." he shrugged.
"You're saying that as if it's easy."
"I'm still right though. Easy or not, we just need to find a way out."
"I still don't understand but okay I guess?"

It's been 3 days and the school still hasn't contacted Ethan whether he passed or not.
"This is taking too long. I'm starting to think my father contacted every single school in here to not accept me." He sighed.
"I don't really think he would go that far. Just be patient."
And so, we waited for hours and finally, Ethan received a message from the school.
"Finally!" He said as we both jumped in joy.
"What does it say?" I asked him.
"It says that... I PASSED!"
"REALLY? I'm so happy! We can all study together again. Also, school will start in a week. Do the others know you're here too?"
"I only told Rie about it."
"Now that's it. Are you two dating?"
"No."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Sounds like a lie to me.."
"I'll chop your head off."
"Do it. I fucking dare you."
"No cause we actually aren't dating."
"Do you think I'm dumb enough to believe that?"
"Yes."
"I hate you."
"I'm not going shopping with you anymore."
"On second thought-"
"Yeah no. I'm not listening to you." said Ethan as he walked out of the room.
"WAIT! NO, PLEASE!"

1 week later...
Ethan's POV
The deafening sound of the alarm clock brought me back from the dead of sleep. I started to stretch within my cozy, warm, haven which was my bed. As parts of my body were gradually turning on, I realised that today is my first day in college here in the US. I immediately got up from my bed and ran to the bathroom to take a shower.
As I finished getting ready, I went down the stairs to see auntie cooking food.
"Good morning, auntie." I said as I helped her prepare our food.
"Good morning, Ethan. Could you please go check up on Karli in her room?" she asked.
I nodded in response and immediately went upstairs to Karli's room.
"Hey, Karli, you in there? Breakfast is ready." I said as I knocked on her door.
"Alright, I'm coming!" she said as she opened the door and ran downstairs, while completely ignoring me.
"Hey! Auntie already told you to not run while going down the stairs!" I yelled at her.
The three of us ate our breakfast and rode a train to arrive at our destination. Karli and I were the first ones to get off the train since auntie's office is farther than our school. The two of us then walked to our school until we reached the school gate.
"I think we arrived too early." I said.
"Well, that means we could surprise the others!" said Karli, looking excited.
"There's no need." said a familiar voice.
As we both turned around, we saw Lyf and Allan behind us.
"Nice to see you again, buddy."
