Phoenix’s POV.
“Where the f*ck are you going!” Miguel yelled after us as I pulled my mate back down the wooded path toward our cabin.
“You can march back up that patch Miguel and tell every single one of those a**holes to go diligently f*ck themselves. As for my mate and me, we are going back to our cabin, where I’ll be worshiping her body for the remainder of the day.”
‘Nix,’ Adel’s voice rang through my mind, stilling my neck and breaking pace to a slow crawl. ‘I know you’re feeling protective. But this is only going to make things worse.’
‘If you think for one d*mn minute that I’m letting you anywhere near that man…’
‘You won’t let anything happen to me, Nix. We go. We say goodbye. We watch them ride off in the distance and then we come back here.’
‘He’s a monster, Adel.’ I stopped facing my mate, only glancing back momentarily to see Miguel giving us space.
