Casey stayed in her room for much of the following night.
Lavinia would check on her periodically, bringing little meals and drinks. She even brought Casey a stack of books, putting them on the girl’s desk.
Casey would smile weakly and thank her, Lavinia would give her a kiss on the forehead, and then she would leave.
After that, Lavinia would sit in her study attempting to do anything, but focus never came. All she could think about was what Casey would need. She seemed to still need time, and that was okay, but Lavinia worried about her health declining due to depression.
She would be there for Casey, whatever the girl needed.
