Lavinia paced in her study. She had barely left the last four days.

That night played before her eyes over and over.

She put a hand to her mouth.

She wondered what she should do, what she COULD do?

She hadn’t meant to. At least, not really. Casey had cut her hand. Elizabeth had put Casey’s blood near Lavinia. Lavinia could smell it. And she was getting hungrier and hungrier.

The blood she had left was being diluted more and more. She was hoping she would find a time to acclimate Casey to it. She thought it would naturally come up, but it never seemed like the right time.

And that first night still haunted her. The fear in Casey’s eyes, the way she looked at Lavinia. Like a beast. Like a monster. And Lavinia had become one. And another night would join the first in haunting her.

She groaned and kept pacing. There was something else, though. Something far more selfish than hunger.
