I had to leave my Anima mere hours before our bonding. It was my job and I did it with honor but I would stay behind on the next war compaign. It was common for newly mated males to sit them out and males with younglings to stay behind to protect them.
"So she was denied everything that was hers by fate?" Jiksi asked. The horror in his voice clear. The olderest of my Brothers Jiksi was pale grey. Like all Drake Asura he had feathered wings. His horns were black. Actually all of us males had black horns it was a trait we had inherited from father. His hair was solid white. His Mina had rejoiced when he had told her she was not just his mate but his Anima.
"From my understanding she should have been provided a Kira when she was a youngling. She would have just been starting school, I believe. I don't claim to fully understand the intricacies of it but when she started to show her calling her family had the choice to raise her like the warrior she was meant to be and didn't," I yelled into the rushing wind. It was faster to fly and we needed to be fast.
"How do we help her then? If she is meant to be a warrior we should see that she has what she needs to be so," Ninit pointed out. Like I didn't already know that. Ninit was happily bonded with Kanno although they were not fated. He had not found his mated but cared deeply for the female. When she had come to him and told him how she felt he had agreed to the matching.
He was my smallest sibling but the fastest. He was pitch black with a blue dusting of furry scales over his shoulders. His hair was a pale blue like the flowing rivers in daylight.
"So she's telepathic?" Ninit asked.
"She said 'Low Latency Telepathy', not sure what that means. Yet, another thing I have to request information from the UPD on," I growled.
"They'll give it to you no questions asked," Jiksi laughed. He then almost fell from the sky as he gasped. Ninit and I continued on he would catch back up. If the fall didn't cause him too many injuries. Sure enough he caught himself before he fell into the treeline and caught up. "Why not just ask them to send Kira?"
"What?" Ninit questioned our oldest.
"She's a warrior! When we ask for things for warrior training for the younglings who want to train as a warrior they send us what we need. She needs Kira to be a Warrior. Why can't we just request they send her one! Hojaji! She is your Anima! You are the Great Hunter. We have credits. The Clan will pull funds if we have to. It's not like we use them," Jiksi pointed out.
The three of us looked between eachother and silently agreed. With a goal in mind we split up to scan the surroundings. Once we were done we would meet up at the Gem mine to head back to the Clan. The was much to do before my bonding ceremony starts tonight.
Jiksi went before the elders to explain to them while Ninit helped me get ready. I sent the request to my direct UPD handler. I sent for information and the request of resources for Kira and Kegan. I had even less idea what a Kegan was but Ava had mentioned it once. She had implied the Kegan was preferable. As if somehow a better fit for her.
I took off my vest. Most of us wore coverings because we were expected to do so in front of the UPD officials but we didn't need them. When you had a layer of scales to protect you clothes were completely optional. I had wore clothes today only because I was going to the station and wanted to make my mate as comfortable as possible. Now I took it all off and dorned my war bands. Tonight I would fight. Since Ava was a warrior our bond would be tried the Warrior Way. I could only hope my Mate sisters had warned her.
I walked into the arena to find my Mate already chined there. Behind her was a young male Jivka. The male looked towards me at the same time as Ava. Both of them nodded. It was the kind of thing you would expect to see from two warriors who had lived and breathed battle together.
The sound of a clap echoed through the stands. The three Elders spoke as one, "Shaka! We have gathered today to witness the Bonding of our Great Hunter, Aleksi, to the Human Warrior, Ava. As her people denied her the right to have her Kira present with her for bonding, something she has shared with her Mate Sisters that is considered a grave insult, we allow the young male Jivka to take the Kira place.
The male has done this of his own free will. We hope in the near future he will decide to become Ava's Jivka alone! Now then let the Bonding begin!" As the Elders took their seats so did everyone else including Ava. She had changed into our more traditional dress. The Jivka sat beside her while laying his head on her lap. The gate first slammed open and the first Kuniru rushed out.
