She picked up her speed and ran, her vision blurred by her tears.

  She wasn't a crier, had never been a crier, but she'd also never had her heart so thoroughly broken before.

  She'd heard the term heartbreak before, but she never thought it would feel like her heart was being physically pulled from her chest.

Finally, she reached the spot and sank to her knees. 

She leaned back against a tree, buried her face in her knees, and let the tears come.

  She'd never felt this strongly about anything, not even when she hated her wolf. But she'd never loved someone before, nor been rejected by them.

  She sat there, trying to understand the intensity of her feelings.

  Her wolf paced back and forth, thoroughly bothered by Isla's despair. 

She herself was full of rage and possessiveness.

  She wanted to march back there and claim Kelly as hers. 

For she thought he was hers, he and his golden wolf.
