章節 9: QUESTS
The night was dead still with nothing stirring. Rhys walked with fear, towards the direction of the Famous Mount Pryno.
He arrived at the top of the mountain and spotted the mountain peak.
The place looked like a vast desert without any vegetation.
A wind blew and the desert sands danced along with the breeze. There was something very mysterious and dangerous lurking in the deep abyss.
There were no signs of life except for the wind.
He shuddered and almost fell down from intense fear.
"This place looks creepy " he cried.
"I've been to more creepier places, places where even demons fear. Now shut up and let's look for the herb"
"Okay, but...what's the herb...where is it..."
"It's called "Blue Whale Eye Pearl",blue in colour and very tiny. It glows when you touch it.
But it doesn't really glow blue always because its colour varies greatly with each person that touches it,so beware"
"Uhhh?"
" See. The "Blue Whale Eye Pearl " is a very powerful herb. Not everyone knows it...and the herb doesn't like corrupt intent,Also don't touch water with it because...well the effect is unpredictable"
"Why the f*ck is it then called "Whale Eye" or something? Aren't Whales like aquatic species?"
"I don't know why. Just shut up and look for it" Alvin grunted.
"So where is this place "
"Over here. Beneath those bushes, I can see the glow"
"Why can't I see it?" Rhys questioned.
Alvin mentally sighed" Uhh...huh,I am leagues above you kid. You are not yet a Cultivator. I see things that you can't, and I have knowledge about things that you might not get to know in your entire life. Now shut up and use that rusty knife of yours!"
"Okay...I hope I won't get harmed or something, I don't have corrupt intent but...just in case...erhh ...something happens..."
"Cut it you imp! Don't torture me with your cowardice. Go and get that..."
Alvin stopped midway in his sentence.
The ground had started rumbling and he felt the presence and energy of a strange yet powerful being. The energy was faint but not inconspicuous to be able to escape the keen sense of Alvin's conscience.
"Get out of here!" He commanded Rhys.
Rhys jumped from the rocky cliff onto the soft sand below and slowly turned around looking at the huge black thing infront of him.
It was an ugly, irregular shaped huge beast with huge horns protruding out of its temples.
Its eyes were deep blue and it's mouth was dripping with a slimy green liquid which corroded anything it came into contact with.
"Kid,you better get strong as soon as possible or we die of one these days" Alvin said.
"Aren't we dead already?"
"No, this is the Keeper of the "Blue Whale Eye Pearl " it hibernates for a very long period of time and only comes out for a minute every day. Seems you have a problem with lady Luck, hahaha. Let's kill it"
"With What? This dull knife?"
"Blame it! You have no weapon with you? Ask the system, it might help. You'll be the death of me one day Kid, now call that System!"
"Erhhh...System?"

"Enough chit chat System or Hulu whatever " Alvin scolded "Bring up something, a quest or anything "

"I won't take control of you,you'll corrupt me "

"how dare you! Arhhh... never ask me that question again" He said with dark eyes and total seriousness that made the System Shudder.
[GOOD]
"Now what do we do?" Rhys asked nervously.
"We have to destroy it, but first it has to be touched,now charge!" he shouted.
"I can't " came the reply from Rhys.
"Let me take control "
"How?"
"Just close your eyes and focus on your mind,you'll see your ethereal body,control it out and I'll take place" Alvin answered.
"It won't hurt right? and...you won't take over completely?".
"No,I'm not allowed to take control of your body, I will be drained very shortly after, its for our safety. Now focus and let's finish that monster!"
Rhys did as instructed. He closed his eyes and concentrated solely at his brain region. He knew how to meditate, so doing that wasn't difficult. It was a an immediate success. He had controlled his conscience and allowed Alvin's to take control. Now he had to spectate and hope that Alvin would take good care of his body and not die.
Alvin grabbed a piece of twig from the ground and threw it at the creature's eyes.
"Ow!" the creature screeched while holding one eye.
"That hurt! That hurt!Hit it again with that " Rhys' conscience shouted with glee.
Alvin threw a few other sticks at its eyes until it gave up and hid under a rock.
"It's gone for the moment" Alvin mumbled.
[NEW QUEST: DEFEAT THE KEEPER OF THE BLUE WHALE EYE PEARL]
"What? I'll get drained very soon. The Kid can't fight " Alvin cried.

Alvin quickly climbed the cliff and ran straight for the bushes. He had no time to waste. His conscience would falter any time if he kept controlling the body and he no other choice too. Rhys was a weak boy, his mind wouldn't be able to make life saving calculations and analysis in critical times.
He reached out for the herb and plucked it. But his hand froze midway as he remembered his mistake. The herb didn't accept the hands of a being with ill intent.
"I'm dead already, we...are dead"
He closed his eyes waiting for the burning sensation and excruciating torture the herb inflicted on an ill intent poachers,but...it never came.
"What?" Alvin asked in disbelief "Why am I not dead yet?"
"It's because you are using to to heal my mother! That is a good intention" Rhys' conscience replied.
"Ohh.. yeah,I guess so" Alvin laughed.

"Take control now!" Alvin shouted to Rhys' conscience.
The young boy didn't delay and carried out the order smoothly. He had returned to full control of his own body.
"Uhh...that was very close,I nearly exploded " Alvin sighed.
"What's that EXP thing?" Rhys quizzed.

"I get it!" Rhys stopped the system.
"Show me my stats "
The black and white screen appeared once again and his attributes were clearly shown.
"Okay Sonny, Use all EXP on Speed!" Alvin ordered.
"Why?"
"Because we can't melee with that beast. It's too strong, we should outrun it" Alvin replied.
"Okay,Hulu, add all EXP to my speed ".

"Alright, let's outrun this thing " Rhys said as he pulled up his pants.
"Put the herb in your bag first kid"
"Okay. Thanks " Rhys said.
"Good luck Kid, I'm counting on you!" Alvin called.
Rhys nodded and then put the herb in his bag and ran towards the giant beast.
"Don't you dare move from there! Do you hear me?! Stay where you're at!!"Rhys shouted, trying to get the beast's attention.
"What now?"
"Run to the peak of the Mount,he'll follow you there. I can hear the gentle snarls of the Snow Wolves. You can outrun them with your current speed, the Keeper can't, and he'll become supper for the Wolves. Get it?"
"Yes!" Ryhs replied.
The Kepper had started running after him ,he slowed down his advance. He was fast now and could match a Basic Level 2 Cultivator's pace even though he hadn't ushered into the realm of Cultivation.
He quickly climbed up the mountain ,making noise as he ran in order to stir the Snow Wolves.
He paused for a bit and waited for the Keeper Beast to catch up with him. He then advanced again extending the gap with the Beast struggling to catch him and the snow wolves following behind them.
Rhys took his chance and climbed up the mountain side, he was climbing faster than ever before. He was getting closer and closer to the top.
The beast followed him. Rhys turned back, looking over his shoulder. He saw the animal still catching up slowly but steadily. The Keppers' huge paws made cracking noises as they pushed against the snow.
He smiled with anticipation as he saw the Wolves quickly gaining up on the Keeper Beast.
The leader of the Wolf pack made a huge leap and boxed the Keeper beast down with full force.
The rest of the pack attacked simultaneously and finished the Kepper beast off.

"What!" Ryhs gasped in shock as he looked at the screen before him.
He was just a pill away from a breakthrough into the Cultivating realm.
"Get home fast. Your mom might wake up,dawn is fast approaching " Alvin said.
"Alright "
Rhys quickly left the mountain and headed home as fast as possible. He made it to the cabin without any problems,he quickly entered and laid down on his bed.
"This day was way too long" he thought to himself as his eyes slowly closed.
