章節 26: Chapter Twenty-Six: Hopelessness

~Pov ruin~ (Third person)

An ice cold, faint breeze zoomed through the creepy ruin. The wind could freeze even death itself and many skeletons fell victim to its numbing cold. They stood frozen for hours, until the slight warmth of the cold blue flames melted the ice. Revivifying the dead.

The cold winds would travers all the corridors of the ruin, slowly creeping into the inner sectors of the ruin. The dead would tremble in fear and cover in the rooms, clinging to the cold flames. In hopes of staying safe from the wind.

The closer the breeze got to the inner sanctum the stronger it became. No longer taking the shape of a breeze, it became a mist. So chilling that just its touch could eradicate even the strongest beings, dead or alive!

Once the mist reached the sanctum of the ruin it would explode outwards, going back to the start. Only to begin its journey again.

The mist had finished its journey once more, delaying the information it had gained to whatever was causing the spectacle.

In a room, there was but one being. Hundreds of chains were connected to the floor, walls and even ceiling. All served to tie up this one being. The thing was trapped in a hexagon wheel, strapped down by a mystical metal that enveloped its entire body. Not even its head was spared. Even so, there were small gaps in the metal, exposing the body of the prisoner. It was but bones, nothing else. Yet it was clearly alive and dangerous.

The mist came to the room and answered the call of its master once more. It portrayed the little ones it had touched. Those who still held onto life. The sack of bones, chained in every way imaginable cackled in pleasure, as it sent its mist to the living.

"Come to me!" its raspy voice resounded throughout the ruin.

The mist spread with more intensity then it had in the last eons and froze every single servant of death.

"Come to me and I will free you!" it repeated. The voice was even more hoarse than before, inclining that it hadn't spoken for many years.

~Pov Jasmine~ (First person)

Sweat ran down my spine, as I felt the cold approach us. Harkolth and Asiana were in no way to run away and I couldn't even move yet. We could hear the whistle of the wind, as it traveled at breakneck speed towards our room.

"Come to me!" We heard, as the mist came into our room. The skeleton I made guard the entrance was frozen solid. It had become a block of ice, yet we weren't affected by the cold

"Come to me and I will free you!" it said, this time I noticed how worn out the voice was. Yet somehow it made me feel safe. The sound that should have been unpleasant for my ears rejuvenated me instead. Without even thinking about it I created a small horse made out of the strange stone of the ruin and started moving towards the sound. Harkolth did the same, leaving Asiana behind, who started crawling towards the sound.

When we reached the entrance and once more entered the ruin we were greeted with silence. Thousands of skeletons patrolling and guarding the ruin were frozen. The horse slowly walked towards the sound, but the sight had made me and Harkolth sober again so he went back and grabbed Asiana.

Together we traversed the frozen world, we passed hundreds of frozen skeletons until we reached an even bigger opening. The floor we were on was a giant balcony to look down at the lowest floor.

What I put the fear of god in me. Millions of those floating skeletons frozen in mid air. They encircled hundreds of thousands of zombies who were in the process of eating each other. But now it was still and silent. I could see Harkolth falling down and crawling away from the edge. His face was pale and Asiana wasn't having the time of her life, as she was under Harkolth weight.

"Those, those things next to the throne, they're Death Kings. Peak tier two beings, at the brink of becoming beings on the same level as monster lords. Not to mention the thing on the throne!" Harkolth said and I turned to where he was pointing.

On a throne there was a lone little skeleton with a dark cape. In its hand was a staff and on its head was a golden crown. Next to it were five gigantic skeletons with black crowns, built like knights. They were even encased in black armor.

But the scariest thing was the thing to the left of the skeleton on the throne. It was a floating giant head. It was on fire, the very blue flame that lit the torches. The skull wasn't like any other skeleton skull so far. It was different. It was a troll head that still had all its teeth. The flame worked like a crown on its head, while wings of fire extended below its head.

"That thing on the throne, it's a bloody Litch! Then that skull must be a Scullvoll. Both the Litch and Scullvoll are at least tier three, what the hell is this place. Not to mention those flying skeletons. They must be Spectra's, a powerful skeleton ghost only capable of coming to this world through death magic!" Harkolth continued and I felt chills go down my spine.

"They're frozen like all other skeletons, no need to fear them right now." I said, trying to believe my own words.

"Plus we survived one of those Spectra things, they're tier one, so we shouldn't have a problem surviving here!" I continued, adding fuel to my fearlessness.

"No, spectras are tier zero! Wrath's, an evolved version of Spectra, is tier one. You see those wyvern-like skeletons guarding all exits, they're wraths. We would die before even knowing what happened!" he said, killing the remaining courage I managed to muster.

"Then what do we do, mister know it all?" I asked.

"We move towards the voice, whatever it is is not on their side. It managed to freeze even the Litch, meaning it has enough power to protect us. It's our best shot at survival. As you can see the villagers are already dead. Our new mission is to report what's inside this place!" Harkolth said and started walking along the balcony like floor again.

Not even once did his eyes leave the skeleton and its eyes never left ours. Its hollowed out skull, with eyes of fire followed us. But it couldn't do more than that, as far as I know.

We eventually escaped the sight of the army, only to come upon something even more scary. Thousands of Death Kings were walking below us, or should I say had been walking. As they too were frozen in place. Even further I saw something that took my breath away as I fell to the floor, releasing my bladder.

Millions of undead dragons all over the place, protecting a wall of thrones. Over hundreds of thrones were aligned on the wall. Each had its own floor connected to it and in every throne there was a Litch. With hundreds of Scullvolls all around. Evolved versions of Death Kings, which I guess are Called Death Lords bowed in front of the thrones. But even they were frozen.
