Matteo’s Pov

I stormed through my secret lair. My face was contorted in anger and dismay. The door slammed shut behind me, waking whoever might hear it.

The sound echoed through the room and the adjacent one on the other side.

Leila’s strong, enticing scent lingered. I closed my eyes, taking a moment to calm my erratic heartbeat.

Frustrated that it didn't work, I paced back and forth, searching for anything to release the building tension in my hands.

Shelves of strong liquor lined up before me. I snarled, running into one and slamming right into it. The bottles fell, crashing loudly on the floor.

Their content spread on my feet, splashing me with wet liquid and the tantalizing scent of whiskey.

Several seconds later, the door creaked open. Oliver poked his head inside, his eyes immediately zeroing in on the broken pieces of several whiskey bottles.

When he caught my gaze, the anger erupted.

I growled, coming after the second shelf.
