Headlights from the first vehicle manned by the Rangers turn night into day as it moves slowly along the dirt track towards the banana plantation, throwing panic into a group of warthog ambling along the road, and sending them crashing into the thick brush and to safety. The vehicle arrives at the village and does a slow turn, its beam shining out through the curtain of darkness, but falls short of the two males as they lie undisturbed in front of the hut, and then moves off back down the dirt track.

The cave is damp, and the smell of rancid flesh is heavy in the air, the shadows move along the walls as the water falls, and all four men are now starting to wish for the comforts of home as the cold from the rock floor and walls starts to eat into their bones, and muscles start to cramp as the long night hours drag by.
