#Chapter3
Days passed and Sasha would be a liar if she said she doesn’t notice the change in Michael. And even though she tries not to let it affect her, she was really afraid of him going back to how he was three years ago. It had been hard to get Michael to stop worrying about her after the Craig incident, he was always in doubt of where she was going and always believe that she was lying to him. It hurt her because she knew she was responsible and that she broke him with her lies, she could still remember their last encounter in his family house that finally got him to change.
Three years ago:
Michael parked in front of his parents mansion, Sasha was sitting beside him but she had said nothing all through the ride. He sighed and asked again for the tenth time, /"are you okay?/" and as always, she responded with a nod which was a clear sign that she was not okay. They both climbed out of the car and entered the house. Vanessa was smiling while holding the twenty months old Sapphire.
/"You are here,/" she said to them just as Sapphire jumped down from her arms and ran into Michael’s open ones while shouting ‘dadty.’
/"How are you mom?/" Sasha asked, greeting her mother in law while letting her daughter who forgot all about her to chat with her father.
/"I’m okay, Chris is in his room as always, to be honest it feels like I am raising another Michael,/" the two women laughed while taking a seat on the couch, /"so how was the trip in Florida? Was it everything you girls dreamt about?/"
/"You went to Florida?/" Michael interrupted the discussion with a shocked voice.
/"Oopsie,/" Vanessa whispered before mouthing to Sasha, /"I’m sorry I forgot./"
Sasha sighed and turned to her husband who was not paying attention to their daughter anymore, /"yes I did with the girls./"
/"How come I didn’t know anything about it?/" Michael questioned.
/"You were in Amsterdam./"
/"So? You could have easily called and tell me./"
/"I didn’t want to./"
/"Why?/"
/"Because I know you are going to react to it and you might send back Gary to go with me or order Fish to follow me or what’s worse, you could even say no./"
/"Why would you think that?/"
/"Because that’s what you have been doing Michael, if I tell you that I want to do something, you question me if I am really going to do what I said. If I want to go out, you hesitates before you let me and even if you do, you will still send Fish to secretly follow me./"
/"I’m going to give you some privacy,/" Vanessa said standing up, /"come on Sapphire, let’s go play with big brother Chris./"
/"No,/" Sapphire replied and Vanessa was forced to pick her up against her wish and carried her out of the room.
Michael turned to Sasha then, he could see the tears she was trying to hold back and sighed, /"You don’t blame me Sasha, you were the one that lied to me that night. You told me you were going out with the girls and you went somewhere else./"
/"And I’m sorry okay, I have learnt my lesson, I was never going to repeat that but you always throw it to my face with your attitude. You don’t let me do things, even when you give your consent you sent Fish or Gary to stalk me. Do you know how that makes me feel, that you are always on tenterhooks with me, waiting for the day I was going to lie to you again to go out? You told me you have forgiven me, why are you still throwing it to my face?/" she couldn’t hold back the tears anymore as they trailed down her cheeks, /"it’s been more than two years Michael, two years since the incident and I have not lied to you ever again, why are you making me feel like this? If you have not forgiven me yet you can tell me and I will apologize. And I don’t care if I have to apologize for the rest of my life as long as you forgive me. I will rather have that than have you treating me this way./"
Michael sighed and ran his fingers through his hair, /"I have really forgiven you Sasha, it’s just…/"
/"Hard to forget,/" she completed for him.
He sighed and nodded softly, /"I know I shouldn’t be feeling this way with Craig behind bars but…/" he sighed once more, /"it’s just so hard…/"
/"To trust me again,/" she completed for him once more and he shut his eyes tightly and let out a deep breath through his mouth.
/"I trust you Sasha./"
/"Just not enough, you always think I am going to lie to you and go to dinner date with another man, right?/"
/"I just don’t want history to repeat itself, if it happens again Sasha, I’m afraid I will not survive it. You know that thing they say about trust? Once broken it’s hard to mend? I’m trying Sasha, I am trying to live above the fear, I’m trying to…/"
/"Trust me unconditionally once more,/" she added.
Michael shook his head softly, /"please stop filling in words for me./"
/"But it’s what you are thinking./"
/"I didn’t say it out, and I will prefer if you don’t as well,/" he licked his lips, /"I love you Sasha, and nothing is going to change that. I just need time, just give me that, please. I know it’s been two years but I still need more time, please, I assure you I will get back, please, just more time./" He walked up to her then and wiped away her tears, /"I’m really sorry for making you feel that way./" He kissed her forehead and hugged her tightly and Sasha sobbed softly, blaming herself for all her troubles.
