章節 108: Akko the blacksmith.
Ruri and I arrived at a big open hole, unlike the homes of the harpies, in the side of the ravine which had lava in pools along the sides and an anvil with tools, presumably for smithing, at the back of the room along with a massive furnace and massive amounts of weapons displayed on the walls all around. There was a door at the back where a harpy exited from holding a dented iron sword.
"Oh Ruri, what can I do for you? And who is this next to you." She raised an eyebrow, "I've never seen her before and by the looks of it," she looks me up and down, "she.. isn't.. a harpy."
"Show some respect Akko! This is-"
"I am Kiera, it's my pleasure meeting you. If you don't mind, is it possible you could fix these training robots?" I asked the red feathered harpy in front of me named Akko.
"And why should I do that for you? Is there even anything to do that you could pay me with?" Akko said with a frown, she looked me up and down once more and wore a small smirk.
I looked at myself and saw my dusty and ripped training robes, "oh, my apologies, I forgot to change after I finished training. I should have some gold to pay you with, how much would it cost?"
"Gold?! No no no! I don't need gold! That's too much anyway!"
"What do you need then?"
"Clearly you aren't a harpy if you don't know how it works around here." She sighed, "we don't have a currency. Either we trade what we have for other things deemed of the same value or we do services for each other. If you're of a high status then you don't need to, just get your servants to do it for you."
"Ah I see." I gave a small nod.
"Akko!" Ruri said with anger evident in her voice.
"Yes?"
"Show some respect to her majesty!"
"Her majesty? This.. " she looked at me and back at Ruri, "that being over there, the one dressed in ripped clothing like they have been living under a cave for decades?"
Ruri looked ticked off.
"Ruri it's fine. I don't need everyone calling out to me every time they see me so its quite nice that someone treats me differently but I'd have to ask you Akko do you treat everyone like this or just me?"
"Of course it's not everyone, you just look scruffy and you don't even know how our civilisation works. You aren't even a harpy."
"That's because she is a dra-"
"Ruri."
"My apologies."
"Don't tell me you're serious about her being our leader? What happened to that ugly ogre?" Akko said as if Ruri's words only just sunk in.
"Well of course her majesty defeated that incompetent being that once ruled over us." Ruri said with pride as if she had accomplished that feat herself.
"You're joking." Her mouth dropped open and she looked at me, "you are joking right?" She pointed her finger at me and looked back at Ruri, "her? She looks like she would snap if I kicked her into the wall so how would she beat that massive ogre dude?"
Akko quickly looked back at me and grabbed the robots I was carrying before placing them down at the corner of the room to then take hold of my arms. She began to press down on my arms and then my abdomen. "Wow, you've got a lot of muscle under there lady." She quickly moved all over me and felt my muscles before leaving me alone and giving me an approving nod. "She has muscle and beauty if you gave her some better clothing I'll give you that but I still don't believe you beat that ogre."
"Akko. I am being serious. If you don't show her majesty some respect then I'll beat you into it." Ruri didn't look like she was messing around causing Akko to make an audible gulp.
"Woah woah woah there Ruri! I'll believe you for now alright! I'd rather not have another fight with you!" Akko whined.
Ruri huffed and folder her arms, "Good."
"So.. your majesty.. what did you do to even break those things? They're incredibly strong and resilient. In all honesty, they can be made to have strength higher than our previous leader. That ogre. Hated that guy." Akko started grumbling on about how much she hated the corrupted ogre and got side tracked.
"I fought it." I replied.
"With what? What kind of metal?"
"Wood. I fought it with a wooden spear."
"Hahaha.. now you're just taking the piss." She took hold of my shoulders and shook me, "HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU MANAGE THAT! okay okay.. deal breaths. Calm down me. Just another silly joke. Ruri is just trying to get me worked up again."
"I'm being serious though?"
"Sure you are." Akko looked at Ruri.
"Don't look at me Akko, I wasn't in the room when her majesty was training with it." Ruri shrugged.
"And on what setting? How high was the power output?" Akko asked.
"I put it to 1300. The first time I trained I put it at around 400 then I typed in an extra number and bumped what would have been 900 to 990 after I finished at 400."
"Yeah. Like I'm going to believe that one."
"Not to offend you your majesty but that's a little hard to believe. Even for you."
"It's true though." Kore popped out of nowhere and was beside me making everyone other than me present in the room jump.
"Nice of you to show up." I said to Kore.
"Where's my welcome kiss~"
I sighed and gave Kore a small kiss before pulling away. "Good?"
"Thank you very much~" Kore sung happily.
"Er.. your majesty? Who is this?" Ruri asked.
"Yeah. Who the hell is this?" Akko said.
"I am Persephone, the goddess of reincarnation. Nice to meet you." Kore gave a bright smile, clearly in a happy mood.
"I can't believe literally anything that happens today. First some random person comes along with Ruri and they're apparently our new leader then they broke the robots that are hard to even dent with a wooden spear with the power output at 1300 and now the goddess of reincarnation is in front of me? Sorry but I'm done for today. Goodbye." Akko just turned around and went back to where she came from, the door at the back of the room.
Everyone else was just silent.
"I'll go and get her your majesty. I'm deeply sorry for this."
"It's fine." I said as Ruri hurried off to the back of the room.
"Hm."
"Is something wrong?" I placed my hand on Kore's cheek and made her look at me.
"No it's nothing." Kore placed her hand over mine and leaned into it while wearing a huge smile, "it's just that this was quite funny, don't you agree?"
"I can't say I can. I didn't feel emotion towards any of that encounter."
"Did you lock them back up?"
"No, I haven't. I don't know why but my emotions only come out when you're around. I guess I just react to you or something like that?"
"Oh~ I'm honoured my darling~"
At that moment Ruri came out of the room leading Akko by the ear who was saying "ow ow ow ow" over and over again with tears building up in the corner of her eyes.
"*sigh* let's get down to business then." Akko said once Ruri had let go and Akko composed herself though she was still rubbing her seemingly sore ears.
