“You think I didn’t understand? Desmond, I thought I made myself clear,” Mykel said in complete disbelief. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing, especially after everything they went through.

“If it was so clear then I don’t get why you’d wait six months, I don’t understand why you’d use another name to introduce yourself. And I don’t get the point in us drinking so much that I couldn’t even remember anything. I just…” Desmond clenched his eyes shut and took a deep breath before he continued. An attempt to compose himself while he looked back at Mykel. “I just didn’t want last night to be meaningless.”

“You’re kidding,” Mykel scoffed again. “Desmond, don’t you remember what I told you? You gave me something I thought I’d lost a long time ago. You saved my life and gave me another chance to live on top of freeing me from a curse I’d suffered with for hundreds of years. Your persistence and determination, as foolish as I saw it, pushed me to do things I had given up on.”
