15: Sunken Ship

I stare off into space, watching her back turn as she flees into the forest beyond. My heart sinks at her words, but I can’t get my brain to believe them. It just doesn’t make sense. How can she be MAKING me feel this way?

I collapse onto the sodden ground, not caring that mud is sinking into my clothes or that bugs start to bite and claw at my skin.

How DO I feel? My head spins. I can’t seem to make sense of anything these days.

All I know is that every time I see her face walk into a room, it’s like someone igniting a supernova, her mere presence outshining everyone else in the room. My heart explodes with a kind of ecstasy I didn’t even know was possible.

I think back on Anyra’s words as the night drags on around me.

“There is something inside me that’s about to come out. This ‘thing’ is the real me, the me you don’t yet see. It’s that part of me that makes you feel this way. It is a force beyond you that I can’t stop or control.”
