When Aiden read the news about his grandmother's heart attack, all he wanted to do was grab his bag and bolt out of the house.

Alas, his dead body on one of Harrow Lane's streets most likely would contribute to another of Grandma Thompson's heart attacks.

He called White Chapel, hoping to get more information about his grandmother's condition.

"The White Chapel Hospital at your service," came a cold vampire receptionist voice at the other end of the line.

"Hi, my name is Aiden Thompson. I want to know how my grandmother is doing. Her name is Lily-Anne Thompson, and she had a heart attack this evening."

"Please hold."

Aiden sat at the edge of his bed, waiting with a rapidly pounding heart. What would he do if something happened to his grandmother? He couldn't take it...

"Mrs. Thompson is still being treated at the Intensive Care Unit," the vampire said once she was back on the phone.

"How... how is she doing then?" Aiden asked, full of hope.
