Damien tensed a little, "If you're going to tell me what everyone has been whispering about, forget it. Safira is my mate and that's never going to change."

Elder Rosalie looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Seeing her expression, he continued to defend his ideals.

"I don't care what others think. I don't need her to bring any benefits to my goals. Moon Goddess chose her for me. She's the one for me."

The elderly she-wolf was impressed by the young Alpha's conviction. She had seen it all too often, people giving up on their fated mates in favor of a chosen mate who would benefit them. Hearing him speak so strongly of his relationship with Safira put her at ease.

This was the Damien she knew.

But she still had things to say.

Elder Rosalie took a seat. She was an old wolf with old bones. She was no longer as strong as she used to be. With the support of her cane, she sat down on the sofa, sinking into the seat and making herself comfortable.
