Silence...
So fucking loud...
Why is this silence so goddamn loud!
It was making me lose my mind.
I even tried to open my phone to at least listen to something, but I can't seem to touch it. I mean It doesn't respond to anything I do even if I click the off button on the sides. All I see was my lock screen and the time going up. If you do something it's unresponsive so It's pretty much dead.
I would've preferred it if there was some form of noise, even the berating of the gangsters from earlier would've worked in this scenario...
I don't know if the lizard is outside, and it seems like it's going to stay that way even when I go out right at this moment. I would have to gamble my life and as much as It seems to be the only choice right now, my brain wouldn't just let me do it casually.
Regardless, its senses should still be somehow lower now that I have all of these bloody mess wrapping me up. So I buckled up and decided to go for it without waiting any longer.
I checked my phone one last bit to check the time. It's 6:50 in the evening, so I have to hurry up before it becomes too late, and the already dead empty block becomes even more empty.
I slowly approach the door ready to step away any second in case it tries to break it apart. If that happens to me when I'm right behind the door, I know for a fact I wouldn't survive if that happens with all of these injuries already.
creak...
I slowly open the door after a few moments of waiting cautiously.
I stand up from my crouched position quickly peeking my head outside and immediately retracting it just to test the waters, if the lizard was ready to pounce on me, waiting for me to slip up.
But it seems like I was too cautious as there were no signs of threat as I peek my head multiple times in succession.
....
Silence... silence still fills my ears.
Whew...
That's one step out of the way...
I've successfully escaped the door roadblock.
It's quite calm as I step my foot outside, but that doesn't calm me down whatsoever. I focus on the entire environment trying to catch even the slightest discomfort there is.
I was careful but I was also quick. These alleyways are a great way to obstruct the lizard's movement, but its tail still poses a massive threat. I learned it the hard way.
...
This is the end of the weird maze alleyway...
Also the end of my semi-secure protection...
Though it's not too bad.
As it's also the start of my counterattack.
Just on the opposite side of this road, lies the construction site I was eyeing. It's completely dark out with no working street lights in the area. I just have to rely on the trusty moonlight for this one.
It's all or nothing on this last rush regardless if I make it out or not.
Tsk...
Fuck it...
I whispered under my breath as I burst through the wind running across the empty road with all my might. I tried to make it as silent as possible, but running to safety was my priority.
Kekeke...
I knew this fuck won't just leave that easily.
I slid down towards the safety of the unfinished brick walls on the construction site, hiding from its vision.
It was currently perched up top the roof of a building just on the right of me. It seemed like it didn't notice me as it was still calm and quiet.
Well, it seems like the blood theory works on this one...
In its hands were some small feathers, probably coming from a bird. There were some in its mouth too, so I seem to have found the reason why he left me in the first place. It went out to grab some appetizers for the main course.
I still can't believe it...
Fantasy monsters.... fantasy rules...
I don't even know if I can call them fantasy anymore, with all this madness occurring right in front of my very own eyes.
Kekeke...
It laughs again, as its sharp teeth get exposed from its grin.
I need to activate that small crane carrying all those heavy pipes...
But I have to do it silently if I want to successfully kill that thing. I can't really walk there as trash filled the site, from sticks, plastics even small pipes, were scattered all around the area making it impossible to go there without making any noise. The soil was also muddy so I can't just run through that easily.
Well... It seems like there's only one choice here, I have t-
RING! RING! RING! RING!
My broken phone seems like it wasn't broken at all...
The alarm set for exactly 7 pm burst out alerting the oblivious lizard.
Kekeke....
Its grin reached its eyes as it jumps off the roof and slowly walked towards my direction. Then as if a jet just rushes towards me, the lizard disappears appearing right on the opposite side of the wall.
Kukuku... It laughs as the alarm continues to emit noise.
...
It still is quite stupid so it seems.
Was it unable to sense such simple things?
The lizard goes over the wall. But to its disappointment, there was no delicious meal waiting on the other side of the wall.
Sitting on the source of the noise, was a bloodied bag constantly vibrating with the rhythm of the alarm.
The lizard realized it's been tricked.
The wide grin on its face vanishes as it stomps on the bag with all its might.
Did it think I'll sit on the loud sound without turning it off or running away?
I realized before I went out that it was nearing 7 in the evening already, the time when Earthly Guardian releases a new chapter. And also the time I set an alarm to read the new release immediately.
I've long left my bag on the floor, waiting for the alarm to start, ready to rush toward the safety of the crane.
And when it hit, I rush through the tracks running straight to the crane, running to the muddy pit as I try to avoid making the pipes clang.
Krrnggggg!
The Crane's engine screeched, grabbing the entire attention of the lizardman.
" It's too late buddy "
A grin escapes my face as I look at the lizard straight in the face.
" You're done. "
I say as it squints its eyes trying to look for me, hidden in the shade of my blood.
CLANG CLANG CLANG
The noise the massive pipes made echoed throughout the whole city, as they fall from the crane's hand on the lizardmen, standing thoughtless on the soft muddy floor.
Splat!
