章節 20: The New Home
Aaron and Tarou felt very frustrated when they heard about their mother's sickness.
They had just met her.
What kind of luck is that?
Aaron refused to accept sitting around while watching his mother dying.
- I won't give up on mother, there must be something we can do to save her life.
- Right, we can't stay still and wait for her to die. We didn't manage to do anything to compensate her.
Sarra tried her best to not let their voices reach Anna:
- Lower your voices. She will hear you!
- What's wrong with that?
- Please don't tell her that I told you, she will kill me. She is scary when she got angry.
- Alright, we will try to pretend that we don't know anything for the time being.
They went back to the living room. Though they tried to smile and act normal, their faces were very gloomy, especially since Anna was coughing very hard.
When she saw them, she pretended that she was okay:
- Oh, you came...I'm sorry...I choked by some food...
She drank some water, then she headed toward them and that's when she noticed their gloomy faces:
- Is everything okay? Why do you look sad? Is the house that bad?
- No, it is not that bad!
- I know that It lacks a lot of things. I'm sorry, I should have prepared your room at least.
- It is okay, we will buy what we need tomorrow, from the town's market.
Sarra didn't want to get busted because of their depressed face. Anna surely will know.
" These two are terrible at acting, I must cheer them up for a bit. "
She pushed them out of the house:
- Mother, I will take them for a walk around the place...we will come back later...
- Alright, enjoy your time...
Sarra took them for a tour around the house.
- Where are we going?
- I will take you to my favorite place.
- Shouldn't we stay by Anna's side?
- She won't be happy if you do so. Let's enjoy our time today.
The house was isolated from the rest of the houses since it was at the border of the town, and there was a big forest near it.
Aaron wanted to take a look at the forest:
- Let's go there, I love forests.
- NO, STOP AARON. DON'T GO THERE.
Replied Tarou while pulling him back. Somehow, he felt anxious when he looked at it. There was something about it, he couldn't understand.
- I don't like that place.
- There is a waterfall not far from here, do you want to see it?
- Alright, show us the place.
The three of them headed toward the waterfall. It was at the top of a small mountain. When they arrived, Aaron and Tarou were stunned by the beauty of the place.
- Wow the water looks like silver.
- Yeah, it is coming from the mountain.
Tarou put his hand in the water:
- I want to swim.
- WHAT? ARE YOU INSANE? THE WATER IS VERY COLD, I CAN'T EVEN PUT MY LEG IN THERE.
- Well, then just stay and watch. Replied Tarou with a big smile, then he took off his shirt.
His upper body was so perfect. His arms, his wide shoulders, and his belly's six-pack. Sarra couldn't take her eyes off him. She kept staring at him without noticing Aaron, who was watching her.
- You are drooling, little sis.
She, suddenly, went back to her senses and looked away while blushing.
Tarou jumped into the water without hesitation, then he splashed Sarra with some water:
- WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I'M GETTING WET!
- Your face looks red, I wanted to cool you down for a bit.
Sarra used her magic and created a big wave that covered him.
- STOP TEASING ME!
Tarou and Aaron started laughing, which made Sarra more embarrassed.
- I'M GOING BACK TO THE HOUSE...
- NO, WAIT! We were only joking. Come on, let's swim...
- No, thanks...I don't want to freeze.
She sat on a rock and kept watching them having a good time.
At noon, they went back to the house. Having that good time improved their mood, but they couldn't forget about their mother's sickness.
- Aaron, what should we do about mother?
- I don't know...
- But we are very strong monsters, how can such a thing defeat us?
- Don't worry, there must be something. We only have to look for it...
When they arrived, Anna was waiting for them. She prepared a lot of delicious food to celebrate her two sons coming back.
- You must be hungry. Sit on the table, the food is ready.
Aaron noticed that she coughs from time to time. He took the plate from her hand:
- Rest for a bit, we will put the table instead.
Aaron tried to hide his worries and sadness by smiling.
They sat at the table and started eating, but the atmosphere was kind of awkward.
- Where did you go?
- We went to the waterfall. The water was cold, but they swam. Replied Sarra to change the mood a little bit.
- Really? I hope you enjoy it. There aren't a lot of things to do in this place, I'm afraid you will get bored soon.
Tarou tried to make her feel relieved:
- Believe me, mother. It is not more boring than the land.
- That's a relief...
