This action stunned Arren, but he did not stop the alpha. He only looked at Spade and noticed his frown. He was perplexed as to why, but he soon discovered the reason.
"You have a fever? Why aren't you saying anything?" Spade asked. His brow furrowed as his gaze remained fixed on Arren.
Arren, upon hearing this question, put a hand on his forehead to feel his temperature, he was indeed hot. He actually didn't feel anything wrong or any headaches at all. He is only feeling cold. But he was drowsy, and his head felt heavy; he assumed it was due to the cold and weather.
Now that I think about it, after what he did all day, being soaked from the rain and staying in an air-conditioned café, it was not impossible for him to have a fever. Arren's reactions were slower than usual, and he failed to notice his condition.
Despite this, he still had the strength to laugh as he confirmed to Spade, "I might really have a fever," his face was bright even his smile didn't give away that he was someone with a high fever if his face didn't have a faint blush as well as his eyes that were clearly out of touch.
Unlike his appearance when he was suffering from unexpected heat, Arren's expressions are silly as he laughs, clearly not taking his fever seriously. It was true, as he had previously experienced much more than just fever. In fact, Arren had fevers frequently in his previous life, so it was nothing new to him.
While it was nothing to laugh about for Arren, it didn't mean it was the same for everyone else. Spade became even more upset when he noticed that the omega was still laughing despite his fever.
Arren was an expert at making people worried about him. He was always casual in his actions, giving the impression that nothing was complicated and nothing to be concerned about. It was precisely because of his personality that those around him were concerned, as they were always prepared for any unexpected situations.
Spade sighed resignedly, helpless in the face of this. There was nothing he could do, and it was even more difficult to change his personality. In the future, he simply needed to be more vigilant whenever Arren's rebellious nature surfaced. He also admitted that this unique trait of the omega made him even more attractive in his eyes. Spade shook his head, speechless for a moment.
"Do you have a place to stay?" Despite the fact that the omega's poor circumstances when he arrived told Spade that Arren didn't have any plans or even money to book a hotel, Spade decided to ask the omega. He respected his thoughts and they weren't at that stage yet where Spade could decide something for Arren.
"No, I hadn't considered it yet," Arren said, shaking his head.
It may be embarrassing to say so, but he was always straightforward and honest. Arren didn't even have enough money for a coffee and had to call someone, let alone look for a place to sleep later. He could think about it later.
Spade was once again astounded by Arren; thankfully, he had already guessed that, or he would have been at a loss for words. The omega remained true to his character at all times. Doing things on the spur of the moment and being careless with everything. Spade felt compelled to say something, but he resisted and decided not to pursue the matter.
"You're not in the state to wander and think about the place you want to stay... since you don't want to go home yet; I'll just book you a hotel room," Spade simply made a decision. He wouldn't leave Arren alone on this rainy night, especially since he had a fever.
Arren had no objections to this, but perhaps because of his fever, he was more unrestrained and expressive with his emotions, and the words would come out without thinking about it.
"Well, Mister Investigator, aren't you so fast? We've only met twice and you already want to take me to a hotel, I thought you were a typical gentleman, but... I like that," Arren's playful voice was hoarse due to his cold, adding an extra alluring effect to the already sweet but flirtatious tone.
He even smiled beautifully as his phoenix eyes curved into a slit, emitting an undeniable charm. He reached for the alpha's neck and traced his jaw. He was no doubt teasing the alpha, he didn't know if it was the fever that made him so brave or if he was originally like this. Perhaps a combination of the two, though Arren didn't seem to mind.
Spade's amber pupils darkened as his jaw tightened in response to Arren's enticing words and actions. It was as if the beast that had been awakened by the omega the night before, when he barged in on his car, was being reawakened once more. His gaze became intense all of a sudden, making Arren's cheeks flush even more than they already were due to the fever.
While Arren kept his seductive smile, he became quite flustered and considered removing his hands that were currently tracing Spade's jaw, but was stopped by the alpha and his hands were immediately held by Spade.
Arren was as if he was caressing the face of a lover while his lover reciprocated by gently holding his hand. His face flushed even more at the thought.
Because Arren couldn't move his hands, he didn't bother fighting Spade and instead let him hold his hands. He started this anyway and he was by no means a coward that would back off silly after the other party flirted back. Their actions were very ambiguous and fortunately, they were the only people in the whole café, but even if there were the two probably didn't care either.
"Be serious," Spade managed to say despite the raging emotions. The omega was becoming unruly, and even his patience had a limit. Spade knew that if Arren kept arousing his desires by teasing him like this, he wouldn't be able to control himself.
But, unlike when the omega was in heat, Spade was able to strongly suppress his desires and emotions this time. He was aware that the right time was required for this. The omega needed to rest as soon as possible, especially since he had a fever.
Spade wasn't sure if Arren was joking, but he hoped the omega was prepared for the consequences of his actions. It was never a good idea to agitate a dangerous beast who had clearly set his sights on you.
Spade still had to wait; the time was not yet right. His real identity was not yet known by Arren, and he wasn't sure how he would react if he found out Spade's real identity. Being involved with him came with a lot of responsibility and trouble. His special identity, even with a status like Arren's, would still put him under unimaginable pressure.
"I have been always serious, though," Arren foolishly smiled as his misty eyes twinkled and intentionally made his voice lower and more like a whisper that only Spade could hear.
Spade's heart prickled, and he found himself staring at and focusing his gaze on Arren's lips. It was almost as if he were being invited to take a bite and taste it, to come and take the omega's breath away. He swallowed involuntarily and focused his attention on Arren's eyes.
He shook his head, attempting to regain his composure. The omega was truly putting his self-control to the test. Spade let go of Arren's hand, but he never stopped looking the omega in the eyes as he said, "Let's go," in a dark and somewhat hushed tone.
