The day had given way to the night when Gideon arrived at the palace. After parking the car, he remained seated inside and continuously uttered spell upon spell to change his eyes back to normal, but all he did remained futile.

The dagger that stabbed him was a special one meant to awaken and give strength to the beast. Nothing shocked him more than realizing none of his spells were working anymore. He had almost given up when he remembered that last spell and gave it one more shot. Thankfully, that one worked. However, while every other thing went back to normal, his eyes were refusing to cooperate.

After several failed attempts, he gave up. He stepped out of the car and went straight to his room, paying no attention to the few people he met on the way.
