Selene tries to fight back her rage. “What is wrong with him?” she snaps through the mate bond.

“Clearly, a lot,” Onyx replies with a sigh. “We will try to capture this group without any losses.”

“Thank you for that,” Selene huffs. “Should we start heading back to the village?”

A few minutes go by before Onyx answers. “Wait till I give the all clear.”

About thirty minutes later, Onyx comes through the mate bond again. “Okay, we have them apprehended. Go ahead and start back to the village. We will meet you there,” he instructs. “You’re going to want to hear what they have to say in person.”

Selene wonders what he means, but her task is clear. She stands up and heads back to the cave, shifting before she goes inside. Cora’s standing there waiting with a few children sitting on her lap.
