Chapter 269: Sharks in the Water
Ellis POV
Dozens of images flooded into my head, the infamous Andrew Stevens, known as “Bastard” even among his friends, one of the most highly publicized assholes in the city.
Even the governor was afraid of him if the tabloids were to be believed.
But he could definitely buy and sell a small country, according to the far more credible business pages. Not someone to be taken lightly, even by me.
Keeping my distance, fighting the urge to march up to the gatecrasher and demand to know just what he was doing there, I stayed on the sidelines and kept an eye on the situation.
I’d promised Livy that I would keep out of her business, and intended to live by my word, at least within reason. Bastards like Anderson were a different situation. Not just competitors, they were closer to predators and needed to be dealt with accordingly. Stevens was a bigger fish than I’d dealt with so far to protect Livy.
