With my heightened Lycan senses and instincts, I can make out the trail they took through the forest. Cameron and Rivkah keep up with me as I maneuver through the forest as quickly as I can.

‘Faster! Need to Hunt! Need to protect!’ My Lycan instinct blares to life in my mind, but I can’t tear through this forest like a raging bull. If we end up attracting too much attention to ourselves, then we won’t be any good as backup to help Roxy and the others.

A flash of Roxy smiling radiantly in the bathroom of the MMA gym flutters through my mind and I tear off north, the claws on my feet kicking up loose dirt and grass. After miles of running through mud, hurtling over fallen logs, and ducking under sodden pine branches, we pick up a faint spicy scent.
