It was early spring, and the days had become warm, with pleasantly cool evenings. The seasonal showers had begun, and the forest around the lodge was stirring with new life.
Today, Chris wished to show Rose around the woods. It looked like the weather would allow for a pleasant outing, and he wanted to show her something special he found yesterday. It was something he knew she would enjoy.
Walking down the hall toward the dining room, he left Rose in the bedroom to finish getting dressed.
After breakfast, Christopher planned to check on Onyx and see how his leg was doing. It still left a knot in the pit of his stomach when he thought about the possibility of losing his horse.
In his musings to himself, he noted, 'It was strange how a person could become so attached to an animal. But then don't all living beings have feelings, desires to be loved and given attention, and have a spirit that needs to be nurtured?'
