Chapter 16: Across the Line
Holly Adams POV:
I stood in front of my mirror, perched precariously on top of four-inch stilettos, and took in Angela’s appearance. In addition to the heels, I’d been put in a black evening dress that came with a matching handbag. My lips had been painted red, and dark eyeshadow had been applied to bring out the blue in my eyes. My hair had been ironed into waves that fell around my face.
Again, it was pointless.
Raf hadn’t noticed me for the first week I’d spent dressing up for him. He’d been more impressed by what I could do, not what I looked like.
At least that meant he wasn’t completely shallow when it came to choosing his potential partners.
But I was told I still needed to dress up. The restaurant I was going to was high-end. And they still insisted that I should look like I came from a life of finery.
I looked over my shoulder at the clock and saw that it was time to get going. Raf was coming to get me in five minutes.
