Walking out of an adjoining room, Dahlia glanced over at her mother and frowned.
"What happened? I heard you two talking and gave you space like you asked, but she's already asleep again? I swear on the gods mom, if you fucked with her…"
She trailed off and left the unspoken threat hanging, but both of them knew there wasn't much behind it. Sabrina might have been a bully and sadist, but Dahlia trusted her enough to know she wouldn't intentionally hurt Bessie in any meaningful way. Still though, she couldn't help but think back to the little she overheard.
"She was bawling her eyes out, mom… What's going on? Is she going to be alright?"
The seraphim let out a long sigh, something she had been doing increasingly more often recently, and looked back down at the maid who was still in her lap.

AngelAsphodel Guess who's back from vaction? That's right, this girl! This chapter almost released a week ago because my flight was delayed by effectively 3 days, but I was basically stuck on hold on the phone or waaiting in lines all that time so I could only get a part of the chapter completed.
