Monday.
.
The fight between Class Two and Class Seven was officially announced. Most of the students already knew this, since there was no need to keep it a secret.
However, this wasn't the important part of Monday. A week had passed, and it meant extracurricular activities or clubs began to make a move to recruit the freshmen.
Kyle was also interacting with the seniors for the first time. Despite the fact that they shared a building, he was too busy the previous week to mingle with the seniors.
.
"Hey, which club are you going to join?" Kyle asked Friena while heading to the class.
"I don't know. Is it mandatory?" She asked back.
"I think so," Kyle said, shrugging his shoulders. He honestly couldn't recall whether joining an extracurricular activity was mandatory or not.
"It's bothersome, and it'll cut into my time," Friena grumbled. She'd rather work out than mingle with people in a club she didn't care about. "So, how about you? Have you considered any clubs that you might be interested in?"
"Hm…. Not yet." Kyle had received several flyers from the various clubs but had yet to check them out. He actually planned to join a club that would provide less work and more leisure time. So sports clubs were not his choice. Clubs like chess or anything that required too much brain power were also out of the question.
"I think I'm going to the literary club," Kyle answered.
"What a boring one. All you do is reading," Friena ridiculed.
Kyle scoffed and had a haughty look on his face. "Well, unlike you, I have a brain to use." That had him receive a punch in his stomach.
"W-what a violent girl," Kyle stuttered while holding his stomach.
"Hmph, that's what you get for mocking me."
"But isn't it the truth?" Kyle replied with an innocent look. It instantly made Friena angry.
"You want to die?" She threatened with her fist engulfed in flames. Rather than being scared. Kyle straightened himself up and opened his arms.
"Fine! Kill me if you must, let people know that you have―" He got punched in the face, or more specifically on his left cheek.
"What kind of book did you read before coming here?" Friena glared at her crazy friend. Kyle pitifully caressed his cheek and answered.
"It is a romance novel. The male lead is a moron. I mean, he's prepared to be murdered simply to show how much he loves." Kyle made fun of the book he had read. It was honestly very dumb. Because he was madly in love, the male lead ignored every piece of logic and reason.
"Huh, I never imagined you'd read a romance." Friena knew Kyle read books a lot, but she had never seen him read so many novels, especially romances.
"Well, I just wanted to have a taste of it, but I guess I picked the wrong book." They finally arrived at their class and went to take their seats.
.
"You two are already being so rowdy this early, huh?"
Kyle spun around to face Quinton.
"What do you mean?"
"I saw you got punched twice by Friena," explained Quinton. "I was just behind you, guys."
"Huh, didn't notice that, but hey! Why didn't you help me?!" Kyle felt wronged. Someone saw the injustice that had been done to him, yet, he did nothing to assist.
"Well …. I don't want to get punched," Quinton laughed. He was glad that he wasn't jumping in.
"Is that so," Kyle sniffed. "From now on, our friendship is over."
"Kyle, are you drunk?" Ozi asked with a strange expression on his face.
Kyle turned to Ozi and replied with a grin, "I'm honing my acting skills. Hey, who knows, maybe I somehow got into a theater club or something."
"You want to join the Theater Club?"
Kyle shook his head and said, "Not really. It's simply a precautionary measure because it appears fascinating. I'm thinking of joining the Literary Club."
"Why go to a boring club?" Ozi seemed disappointed. To him, the literary club had nothing else to do except reading. "Why not other clubs like hiking, a sword club, or such?"
"Ah, I don't want to get too tired." Kyle waved his right hand while his left hand supported his chin. If he joined a club that taxed a lot of his energy, he couldn't call that a leisure activity.
"Just say that you are lazy; isn't that why you want to join the Literary Club?" Quinton accused him.
"Yeah!" Kyle gave a thumb up. Both Ozi and Quinton gave him deadpan looks. They couldn't understand why someone like Kyle would go to such a boring club. After all, their impression of Kyle was that he was an active person who was also skilled and among the top.
.
"Has everyone taken their seats?" A voice came from the entrance. The students simultaneously looked in that direction and saw their Homeroom Teacher, Halbus. However, all of them were confused since the bell had not rung yet, and it wasn't supposed to be Halbus that taught them.
"I'm here just to announce two things," told Halbus to reassure them. "First of all, you guys must have known about the clubs. I recommend you to join the one you like. You will be strained a lot in this school, both mentally and physically. Therefore I want you to at least join a club that you enjoy to release your tension." Halbus explained everything to them.
"Second, I'm sure you guys know about the fight between Class Two versus Class Seven. It will be a public fight, and everyone can come to watch. Make sure to observe and take notes carefully. That is all." Halbus immediately left after that.
"That was quick," Kyle muttered, and the bell sounded not long after.
