The concern never left Varya's face even when Ebari was no longer in view. 

She couldn't help wondering if it was about the former emperor considering Ebari didn't tell her what the issue was about. Her eyes landed on Galen and she shot him a questioning look. He looked as concerned as she was.

Varya quickly changed seats, planting herself where Ebari once sat and leaned toward her guard and friend. 

She put her head down and whispered, "It was about Kruos, wasn't it?" 

Galen hadn't been meaning to eavesdrop but his keen ears picked up the unmistakable words very easily. He remembered how torn apart Ebari seemed to be after his last visit with the emperor and he hoped that it would be a different outcome this time around.
