Giovanni, ever the showman, promised to look after the duck with the utmost dedication, going as far as to say that Prof. Beak would live like a king under his watch. Ginny, though relieved, felt a slight pang of anxiety. She knew her uncle's idea of spoiling the duck might involve a bit too much indulgence, but it was still a better option than getting caught smuggling an illegal settler back to the huts.
