"Okay!" Little Veen agreed right away. He beamed as he stood and jumped into his mummy's embrace. "Aunt Helena," he said when he turned his face towards her, "I am sorry for breaking the promise because, I am sleeping with mummy and daddy."

Helena broke into a sweet smile so as not to show her frustration. "It's okay, my dear, We still have tomorrow for the sleepover. So, enjoy your time with mummy and daddy."

After they wished each other good night, Jennet took Little Veen away.

Once again, Helena was left alone in the living room. She picked the colouring book and the colour pencils and placed them on the table. Her face turned grave when no one was looking.

Never mind, she thought. There was plenty of time left until she could get a hold of the precious blood of the Lockhart's youngest member. For now, she had only needed to act the part of an understanding aunt to fool the rest of the foolish humans.
