章節 879: The So-Called Hero

While his research on Horcruxes was stalled, Ivan made good progress on his search for the Deluminator, and was able to decipher Dumbledore's enchantment, which left him speechless.

When the Deluminator is fully charged with magic, it can communicate from a distance, as long as you are thinking about the other person.

It looks a bit like a love interest gadget.

Of course, it could also be used to deliver information.

It was of little use to Ivan, as the Deluminator's effects clashed with his magical mark, and he could only keep it as a keepsake for Hermione.

The other relic, the Sword of Gryffindor, was retrieved from Hogwarts by the Ministry of Magic, but Ivan did not rush Piers to deliver it. Instead, he handed it back to the Ministry along with the Deluminator and the letter, telling them to deliver it to Hogwarts and announce the will with everyone present.

… .

The Christmas holidays soon ended, and on the first day of school, the young wizards and witches returned to Hogwarts on their special trains. However, compared to the lively atmosphere of previous years, this year's Hogwarts seemed to have been overshadowed.

Dumbledore's funeral had just ended a few days earlier, and the Dark Lord had gone on a rampage, so much so that even the Ministry of Magic and Gringotts were no exception.

Because of this, many parents were worried about their children returning to school.

Fortunately, Pierce managed to get the Daily Prophet to issue a notice promising to keep every student safe, and the Ministry of Magic was to station a large number of elite Aurors at Hogwarts to open the school's protective wards and create a fortress that would never be breached.

Because of this, the parents allowed their children to return to school on time.

In an effort to calm the crowd, Dawlish publicly announced the Ministry's actions during the first day of school, as well as Dumbledore's will.

"A portion of Dumbledore's will concerns you, and he left you several relics, to be exact," Dawlish said as she approached Ivan and the others.

"You mean us? Did Headmaster Dumbledore leave something for me as well?" Ron was shocked, having not expected this.

Harry and Hermione were also surprised and looked at Dawlish expectantly.

"Yes, Mr. Ron, including you, and, of course, Sir Harls and Miss Granger!" Dawlish replied.

"What about Harry?" Hermione asked, sensing that Dawlish had not mentioned Harry.

"I'm sorry, but there's nothing in Dumbledore's will for Mr. Harry Potter!" Dawlish shook his head, all business.

"That's impossible!" Ron exclaimed, unable to contain himself, as everyone in the wizarding world knew how much Professor Dumbledore cared about Harry!

Hermione nodded in agreement; Professor Dumbledore had left something for them that he would never leave alone.

Harry looked at Dawlish with a quizzical expression, clearly confused.

"No, indeed. The Ministry has confirmed this repeatedly. If you really don't believe me, I can request permission to show you Dumbledore's will," Dawlish said confidently.

Harry's reaction to Dawlish's confirmation was one of disappointment, as he wondered why Professor Dumbledore had not mentioned him in his will.

"Perhaps Professor Dumbledore forgot! As you know, the Professor is over a hundred years old and must have a poor memory," Ron suggested.

"Yes, it must be!" said Hermione.

"Perhaps…" Harry replied casually, knowing full well that Dumbledore would never forget this. He forced a smile and changed the subject. "Captain Dawlish, you haven't said what the Professor left for Ron."

"Ah, yes…" Dawlish tapped her head and, from the pocket of her wizarding robe, produced a small, elaborate lighter-like object, which she handed to Hermione. "This is the Deluminator, which Dumbledore said in his will he hoped you would make good use of."

Hermione carefully took it from him, fiddled with it, and soon found a way to use it. She flicked the Deluminator with her right hand, and the candle flames in the Great Hall were instantly sucked into it.

"Oh, sorry!" Hermione quickly cast a Fire Charm, setting the Great Hall's fireplace on fire. The flames rose high, and the light of the fire illuminated everyone again.

"It's quite all right. This Deluminator was probably made by Sir Dumbledore himself, and you can't see it anywhere else. It's quite a memento." Dawlish smiled, then turned to Ron and handed him a letter.

"Then there's you, Mr. Weasley, who Dumbledore left a letter for you, enchanted so that no one but you could open it."

Ron quickly took it and opened it without hesitation.

"What did the professor say in his letter?" Ivan asked curiously. He knew all about the few relics Dumbledore had left behind, but the contents of the letter were a secret to him.

Harry and Hermione both turned to look at Ron for an answer.

"Well, the professor said in his letter that he thought long and hard about choosing me as a prefect this year, and that he believed I could do a good job…" Ron said sheepishly.

"Of course, you've been wonderful, Ron, you're the best prefect!" Harry encouraged him.

Ron nodded sheepishly. The truth was that his job as a prefect was a complete mess this year, and many young Gryffindor wizards refused to listen to his orders, even going so far as to privately say that they only approved of Ivan Hulse as a prefect, much to his embarrassment.

He even wondered if Dumbledore had misquoted the prefect appointment.

Ron was moved by the weight of this letter, which reassured him that Dumbledore's decision to appoint him a prefect had indeed been well thought out.

He also left out the second half of the letter, in which Dumbledore told him not to limit his vision to one area, that everyone had something they were meant to do.

Ivan and Harry were excellent, but because of this they could not keep their eyes on mundane things, which were often equally important.

It is not necessary for a hero to have a great career. Those who work behind the scenes and rally people's confidence in times of crisis are equally worthy of respect!
