"Please, Hermione? Its not that bad. Just twenty minutes," Ron begged to his female friend.
"I don't know Ron," Hermione sighed, "You know I hate quidditch and everything that goes with it."
"Come on, Mione, you don't even have to go in," Harry said giving her puppy dog eyes.
"Fine! I surrender. You win!" Hermione exclaimed throwing her hands in the air.
Harry and Ron shared a Cheshire grin before each took one of Hermione's hands and ran down to Quality Quidditch Supplies. When they arrived, their noses were practically pressed to the window while Hermione leaned against the wall.
"Okay, we'll be back," Ron said eyes shining like a small child who was given candy.
"Just go," Hermione laughed, "I'll be right here. Won't leave Hogsmeade."
"Thanks Mione!" The boys said each giving her a quick kiss on the cheek before running inside.
"Dorks," Hermione muttered under her breath.
"Granger," A voice said from behind Hermione.
"Fizzing Whizbees!" Hermione exclaimed jumping and quickly whipping around to face the voice, "Oh merlin." Hermione said when she saw the owner of the voice.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" The boy demanded as he approached her.
"I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about, Malfoy," Hermione said cooly but glancing around trying to find an escape.
"Don't you play dumb, bookworm," Malfoy growled dangerously.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry!" Hermione said raising her hands up, "Honest. It was a dare. Gryffindor Game Night. You can't back out once its set. There's a charm."
"A game? Are you Gryffindorks mental?" Malfoy said loudly, thankful he cast a silencing charm around them so no one would hear their conversation.
"I'm really sorry. I honestly feel bad," Hermione said.
"You should," He growled, "I'm no longer welcome at home. So thanks, Granger."
Hermione looked at the ground for a moment before speaking, "I'll write to your parents again and explain it."
"Don't even bother," Malfoy sighed leaning back against the wall next to her, "They don't care anyways. Always looking for a reason to shun me."
Hermione stayed silent just looking at the floor.
"Lucius never cared," Malfoy sighed, "Mum does though."
"I'm really sorry, Malfoy," Hermione said sensing his anger rising again.
"Good," he growled, "Mums not allowed contact with me anymore. Lucius won't listen to any letter you send. He'll be even more upset that a muggleborn outsmarted me."
Hermione just looked down again thinking it was best he just vented out his anger rather than arguing.
"Bloody stupid Gryffindors," Malfoy swore turning around and kicking the wall, "I've got no house now. My inheritance was taken away. All because of a stupid. Bloody. Dare." He said kicking the way in between words.
"You can take my house," Hermione said speaking up out of fear since he was really upset now, "I'll just stay at the Weasleys or with Luna."
"Not happening...," Malfoy hrowled looking over at her and trailing off when he caught a good look at her.
Her hands were ckasoed together and head down, her curls falling gracefully with the snow clinging to them. Her nose was slightly pink from the cold as were her cheeks, tinted pink and her lips parted and a slightly parched.
"Dear Merlin I'm in love with you," He breathed quietly as realization crashed over him.
"What?" Hermione asked looking up at him, which he silently cursed her for, for now he had a perfect view of her face.
"Stop looking at me," he said.
Hermione looked away, but not before her face filled with confusion, "Why?" She asked.
"Uh..." He stuttered unsure of what to say.
"Malfoy?" Hermione asked glancing over to see his dumbstruck face just staring at her.
"Y-Yes?" Malfoy stuttered again.
"Why are you staring at me?"
"Um, no reason?"
"Just kiss her already!" Someone called out.
Both Hermione and Malfoy looked over to see a whole crowd of people watching them all with faces of anticipation.
"What?" They both said.
"You didn't hear him?" One girl asked, "He said earlier, 'Dear Merlin I'm in love with you'" the girl laughed as she did her best Malfoy impression.
"You said what?" Hermione screeched looking over.
"I didn't say that," Malfoy said quickly.
He whipped out his wand and cast a silencing charm as well as one that would make the invisible to passerby.
"Now where was I?" He asked, "Og right I was mad at you."
"I'm sorry, Malfoy, okay? How many times do I have to say it?" Hermione asked looking up at him since he had moved in front of her.
"You can say that as much as you bloody want, but it doesn't change anything," Malfoy growled dangerously.
Hermione looked down at the ground, both scared of him and feeling guilty. He had no house and his parents couldn't talk to him because of what she did. Hermione made a mental note to hex Ginny later for the dare.
"Granger are you listening to me?" Malfoy said loudly, anger rising.
"No," she whispered.
"And you're supposed to be the brightest witch of your bloody age," Malfoy sneered.
Hermione was now terrified of the man in front of her. He was at least ten inches taller, and that was with him slouching down a bit, and so much stronger than her. He could easily kill her with a single punch if he wanted.
"Are you crying?" Malfoy asked her.
"N-No," Hermione whispered wiping away the couple tears that had escaped.
"Don't lie to me," Malfoy growled.
"Yes," Hermione answered softly.
Malfoy placed two fingers under her chin and forced her to look up at him. She wouldn't meet his eyes and continued to direct her sight to the ground. He brought his hand to cup her cheek, and her eyes darted up to him. He searched her through her eyes and his heart broke when he found the source of her crying.
"You're scared of me," he whispered, "Aren't you?"
Hermione shook her head slightly and Malfoy looked her in the eyes.
"Don't lie. Please," he said softly.
Hermione brought her eyes to the ground again and nodded the tiniest amount possible.
Malfoy's heart broke again and he pulled the small girl forward and hugged her tightly to him.
"I would never hurt you, Granger," he whispered into her curls.
Hermione pulled away from his embrace and looked up at him, "I don't know that."
"Granger, look at me," Malfoy said holding her face gently so she couldn't turn away, "I would never hurt you."
Hermione searched his eyes for any sign he was lying, but couldn't find one. She stared at him for some time before dropping her gaze to his lips. Before she realized what she was doing, she leaned forward and kissed him.
Malfoy's eyes widened when she placed her lips on his, but he didn't waste time before kissing her back. The feeling of fireworks erupted in his stomach and his blood was boiling under his skin, like fore through his veins.
"Hermione?" A voice, no two voices, screamed.
Hermione ignored them and continued to kiss Malfoy, who's gently backed her to the wall and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"What in the name of Merlin's Chocolate Frogs is this?" One of the two voices yelled, "Did you just faint?" It then asked.
Hermione and Malfoy pulled away from each other with identical smiles.
"I believe you now," Hermione smirked.
"Good," Malfoy laughed.
"Who fainted?" She asked.
"Dunno," Malfoy shrugged and the two turned to see that the charm had been taken down.
Harry was bent over Ron's body trying to shake him awake while muttering about ferrets.
"So, you taking me up on that offer to take my house?" Hermione asked.
"Only of you'll be there," Malfoy smirked.
"Then welcome to your new home," Hermione smiled to him before apparating away.
