The first snow fell on Veritas as Ruby opened her eyes. White color covered almost the entire Veritas, and the temperature decreased to minus degrees.

Most Veritas residents would feel shivering even after lighting the fireplace, but strangely Ruby woke up wrapped in warmth.

Ruby blinked several times, trying to adjust the light entering her retinas. She didn't know how long she had been asleep, but it seemed long enough that her back ached.

"Mmm." Ruby tried to stretch her hands and back, which felt sore. However, her movements halted as her eyes met those golden eyes that looked gentle.

"You're finally awake, Ruby." Matthew smiled and let go of his hug so his wife could stretch out. "Are you feeling cold?"

Ruby shook her head slowly.

When Ruby looked closely at Matthew's face, she noticed that Matthew had noticeable eye bags, indicating that he had been slept-deprived the past few days.
