章節 24: Business walks
Viktor walked to the Balcony to see Emma talking and laughing with Pepper. Viktor smiled from the bottom of his heart and watched his wife make a friend, staying out of her view.
It's not every day that Emma makes a friend.
The last one tried to kill him.
At least he knows this one won't…
Of course, hopefully not.
Viktor's eyes flashed and he pursed his lips, thinking 'Yes… Hopefully not…'
Viktor didn't notice his thoughts were slowly changing as he stopped treating himself as an outsider of the Marvel World. He was fully integrated into this society now. He stood by the Mutants as his wife was a Mutant but he had his own thoughts too.
He deeply respected Tony for his future actions but he was still rational.
He didn't want to make a mistake and plunge his family in danger with brainless actions.
The best thing to do was stay out of trouble and leave the plots alone. He wasn't even sure if his presence was affecting anything but he had a feeling that his dream of a peaceful family life and dying of old age wasn't going to be easy to achieve…
He vaguely felt that it was going to be troublesome…
Very troublesome.
In short, he was walking on a tightrope at the moment.
He had to get stronger and make the tightrope widen into a road to prevent himself from falling off.
It's not realistic to think that Emma's Mutant status would be hidden forever. Viktor just wanted to make sure it was a secret for as long as possible.
Looking at Emma's happy laughter, his heart firmed.
He wanted to keep her happy… no. He HAS to keep her happy and safe.
Her peaceful life… Whoever wanted to tear it down will take a permanent trip to hell!
Viktor clenched his fist and a tight frown appeared on his face.
He didn't want to kill people but sometimes there was no choice…
With that in mind, he thought about Ralph's family… His eyes narrowed slowly and a vicious light flashed in them…
His thoughts were interrupted by a hand clasping his shoulder.
Viktor came back to reality and turned his head to see Tony staring at the girls with a soft smile, saying "Beautiful, isn't it?" Viktor looked at the girls and a gentle smile sprawled across his face as he nodded "It is. Peaceful times are often full of beauty."
Tony's smile slowly disappeared as he said "Who are you?" Viktor replied "Just a Doctor." before turning to Tony and smiling "Who are you?" Tony looked at him silently for a few moments before smiling the same smile as Viktor, "Just a playboy."
Viktor's eyes flashed and he smiled, "Pleasure to meet you, Playboy." Tony narrowed his eyes slightly and smiled, "Likewise, Doctor." before changing the topic "Didn't see you at the Board of Directors meeting."
Viktor turned back to Emma and crossed his arms, saying "Is it necessary? I only own 2% and I have my own business. Speaking of which, how about you sell me something?" Tony looked interested and asked "Oh? Like what? A missile?"
Viktor smirked and said "What am I going to do with a missile? Sit on it and fly away? I heard you're quite accomplished in Artificial Intelligence." Tony clasped his hands behind his back and looked at Pepper as he replied "You want my A.I? Sorry."
Viktor continued speaking "Not yours. A more primitive version. I want to set up a company for entertainment. Although the returns on this little 2% are very good, I have to think about my future family. You sell me the A.I and help me set up the company in exchange for 20%."
Tony almost laughed "An entertainment company? Are you joking? In this Era you want to start making movies?" Viktor shook his head and said seriously "I don't think we're on the same page here. I'm not talking about movies. I'm talking about comics, animations, etc. The A.I is just to manage numbers and relieve most of the pressure. I'll take the creative sourcing and let the A.I do the rest."
Tony asked strangely "Aren't you a Doctor?" Viktor smiled "Who said Doctors can't have hobbies?" Tony fell silent and said "I'll think about it." Viktor shook his head and replied "Forget it. You can tell me yes or no. There's no need to play ring around the rosie with me."
Tony replied sharply "You're asking for something that's a huge risk to me. I provide the A.I and get 20% of a company that I'm not sure is going to be a return on my investment. Business men don't take so many risks."
Viktor looked at him and spat, "Then don't be a businessman." before walking away, leaving Tony silent.
Viktor came to Emma and Pepper, saying gently "My apologies, Emma it's time to go home." Emma looked at him and pouted "Already?" Viktor smiled lovingly and caressed her cheek, saying "Yes, something came up."
Emma sighed and nodded, Viktor turned to Pepper and smiled, "Sorry, miss…" Pepper smiled and stretched her hand, saying "Pepper Potts." Viktor shook her hand gently, replying "Ms. Potts. Terribly sorry, it's not easy for my wife to make a friend but something came up. Next time, we'll entertain you at our home."
Pepper waved and smiled politely "It's alright. I understand." Emma held her hands and sighed sadly "Pepper, you have to drop by when you have time, okay?" Pepper giggled and nodded "For sure!"
Emma giggled and replied "You said it." Pepper laughed and said "I know, girl! Hahaha~" Emma said goodbye and finally walked away, holding Viktor's arm.
Viktor passed Tony and patted his shoulder, saying "You know where to find me." before leaving the building.
Tony looked thoughtful and said to Pepper, "Let's go." Pepper was confused and Tony ignored her, leaving the venue as well.
Viktor drove home and Emma hummed to herself along the way, Viktor chuckled "Happy?" Emma smiled happily and nodded "Yep! Pepper is really great! If not for my big bear, I wouldn't have met her!"
Viktor puffed his chest and a hooligan aura spread out as he said proudly "Of course! Who do you think I am?" Emma looked at him and giggled "A big softie?" Viktor frowned and said seriously "Nonsense, who did you hear that from. I'm the toughest guy on the planet. Nothing can injure me, I'm invincible."
Emma rolled her eyes cutely and said "How could I be fooled? Of course, my big bear is the greatest!" Viktor nodded and smiled proudly, "That's right, don't forget it!" Emma giggled and rubbed his thigh, saying ambiguously, "So when we get back…"
Viktor swallowed and grinned "I'm driving…" Emma played with her hair and licked her lips, saying seductively "Is that a problem?" Viktor looked at her and swallowed hard…
A while later
Viktor sat up on a bed in another room in his house. He sat on the edge of the bed, naked, and looked out the window with narrowed eyes.
Emma was laying next to him with a big smile on her sleeping face.
Viktor never forgot about Ralph's family…
Just as he was about to leave, Emma's hand grabbed his arm and complained "Come back… I'm so cold…" Viktor looked troubled and Emma added softly "They're just ordinary people… Don't do anything to them, please…"
Viktor didn't look at her and said firmly in a soft voice "They're variables…" Emma retorted "But they're innocent. I don't want to live peacefully if it means you have become a villain, my love…"
Viktor was silent and Emma added "Please, love? For me?" He stayed silent for a few moments before sighing and getting back in bed. Emma smiled happily, snuggling into his chest and resting her head on his shoulder.
She kissed his body a few times, saying lovingly "Thank you for protecting me…" Viktor held her soft body in his arms and smiled lovingly "Always." She lifted her head and stretched her neck, kissing his face as she said "I love you, big bear…"
Viktor craned his neck and kissed her lips, just smiling. There was no need to say it back, she knew. Emma smiled happily and snuggled into his embrace, tangling her long legs with his and breathing slowly.
Viktor closed his eyes and smiled slightly.
