The door was knocked lightly as Regina glanced in the direction of the door with a calm face. She counted the people outside the door and knew there were her teammates among them, probably captured by these people. By the sound of it, she assumed there was no fight and these people were with the lord of the city since nobody could do it except him.
" Come in."
She sighed with a gentle face while hiding her rifle under the bed. She took the dagger and a pistol out of caution as she watched heavy armored knights enter her room.
" Miss Springfield? I am from the lord manor and we suspect you are with the cult, so we need you to come with us. Don't worry about your things, I warned the innkeeper to keep them safe until the investigation is over."
The knight spoke with a calm voice, unlike her imagination. She thought these knights would be following the lord orders, but they genuinely seemed to be here for an official job.
" I understand. I assume my people are with you, so where are we going again?"
Regina asked plainly while handing her side weapons to them. The knights were shocked to see her weapons because each of them was engraved and enchanted with powerful magic and they were probably worth a lot.
" We will head to the knight department where your cells will be there. Unfortunately, we don't have interrogation rooms like churches, thus we need to place you in the cells if you don't mind. We will offer you food and water for free."
The knight said with a smile, gesturing her to follow them. Regina nodded at him, leaving her room with a heavy face when she saw her teammates.
" I haven't introduced myself properly. My name is Jadaka Hen. I am the vice-captain of the knight order. Unfortunately, the captain is out for patrolling, so I have to guide you there."
Jadaka scratched his head with embarrassment because he understood these people weren't as simple as they looked. They were either extremely rich or powerful people in his mind since their equipment was top tier even in church orders.
Meanwhile in lord manor.
A big fat man rubbed his belly as he threw the woman outside of his room with a cold face. He didn't care if the poor woman had clothes or not since he was busy.b
" Lord, as you mentioned before I planted the evidence near their settlement. Your brother should find it tomorrow. I believe you can meet them after that."
The butler showed the eerie-looking item, bowing down with a calm face. This wasn't his first time doing this and he certainly didn't feel anything at all.
" Good. I heard those women were unusually beautiful and there were even demi humans and elves among them. I wonder how they would taste."
He laughed with a drooling face, imagining the ways to enjoy his night after obtaining them. However, there was a problem in his mind because his half-brother was there.
Unlike him, his brother was a stoic man who valued knight honor. Hence, he had to find a way to make them disappear before things got ugly. Thankfully, this wasn't his first time doing it.
" Kidnap them and make things look like they had escaped from their cells. If my brother insists on finding them, burn the place down. I can afford one of two shabby buildings for them."
He didn't hesitate to order his butler to kidnap them.
On the other hand
" I see, so you are saying that someone is trying to frame you. Why would someone do that?"
The captain spoke with a cold face, observing Agam who was shrugging his shoulders with a defeated face. Before heading toward here, he had a suspicion that his brother had something to do with this, but he didn't have evidence.
Although the captain knew these people were innocent, he had to follow the protocol and interrogate them.
" Listen to me. These friends all came from the West. They don't know how things work here, but I do. You know High Sand is notorious for being a bad place despite you and your father's hard work."
Agam said with indifference.
