章節 309: Akainu's Quirky Adventure: Part 2

"I'M HOME!" Bakugo Katsuki shouted upon entering the entry hallway of the quaint apartment.

Akainu had to slouch slightly in order to not hit his head on the ceiling. Not really that uncomfortable, but Akainu didn't feel at ease without maintaining his ramrod straight posture at all times.

"WHY ARE YOU LATE?!" an angry woman's voice shouted in response to the boy's greeting.

"I GOT CAUGHT UP IN A VILLAIN ATTACK! GIVE ME A BREAK!" Katsuki answered in an annoyed tone.

A clatter of kitchen utensils being dropped onto a counter or something similar was heard before quick stomping thundered towards them.

"Are you alriiii-" Bakugo Mitsuki started to ask somewhat worriedly before losing her line of thought upon seeing Akainu's 3 meter tall form. "You aren't being held hostage are you…?"

Her voice held some fear, but beneath it was a building determination. Akainu could respect how quickly she assessed the potential threat and decided almost immediately to fight for her child if necessary.

"No, he saved me when the 'heroes' were standing around doing a whole lot of nothing," Katsuki clarified in his usual gruff voice.

"Oh, alright then~!" Mitsuki shifted out of 'Mama Bear' mode and into 'Good Host' mode. Her whole demeanor became much brighter and spoke much more politely. "Will you stay for dinner? Masaru and I would like to thank you, and hear about the incident since apparently the police are taking their sweet time."

"Katsuki, be a good boy and keep, er… Apologies, I'm Bakugo Mitsuki. May I know your name?" Mitsuki asked after starting to nag her son.

"Sakazuki." Akainu answered curtly.

"Keep Sakazuki-san entertained, Katsuki." Mitsuki bade. She went back to the kitchen to prepare a larger meal now that she had a guest, and a rather large one at that.

Katsuki grunted in the affirmative. He slung his backpack off and kicked off his shoes before entering the house proper.

Following behind the boy, Akainu was led to a bedroom with a few images of costumed individuals on the walls and a strange device on a desk in the corner.

Katsuki tapped away on a rectangular device with many buttons after turning on a screen. "You can look up whatever information you want on my computer. That should be easier than me answering your questions, anyhow."

Akainu looked at the rectangle with the buttons in confusion. Apparently he was expected to know how to use this? He recognised some of the characters but many were completely foreign to him. Some of the symbols were the same as those in the middle of the white screen; "GOOGLE".

He looked at the boy again helplessly.

"Hah… You don't know how to use a computer?" Katsuki sighed grumpily.

Akainu shook his head no.

"Fine then, I'll show you." Katsuki stood up again and muttered. "Computers have been around for almost 200 years now; how are there still out of touch old people?"

The two spent a short amount of time going over the function of a keyboard and the Google search engine. The explanation of the internet both fascinated and terrified Akainu beyond words.

"Anyone can share whatever information they wish on this internet?" Akainu asked with what amounted to a 'shocked' look for him.

"Yeah? There are governments that try to suppress it, I guess, but they're only as successful as their ability to keep from using it at all, really. There are always work around government censorship if someone is determined enough," Katsuki explained, glad that the old man was at least a quick learner.

That a child could casually speak about subverting a governmental body was shocking in and of itself. As the boy stated before, though, his answers would come more quickly with the use of the computer's search engine.

"World map." Akainu spoke as he typed it in using the characters he was familiar with instead of the 'English' letters he'd never heard of or seen before.

Akainu's eyes widened. This wasn't the world map he was familiar with at all, not even close. He used the 'mouse' (a silly name he thought) to click on a world map that appeared to have territorial labeling. Not a single name was familiar to him, with the exception of the Pacific Ocean and Japan that he'd been told was his current location.

"World Government." Akainu typed in.

The top result suggested that a world spanning government was a purely hypothetical existence, with the closest thing to it to exist was a 'United Nations'. Further exploration into that topic showed it was more like the Reverie than an actual governing body.

A search for 'Celestial Dragon' only gave results for a fictional work about 'cultivation'. Why anyone would read a book about farming with dragons in it, he couldn't understand.

This told him all that he needed to know to understand and accept his situation. "I'm on another planet…?"

"You what?" Katsuki looked at him like he was stupid or crazy or both. Akainu ignored him, so he grumbled and went back to reading his sports manga to pass the time until dinner.

Akainu went about learning the geopolitical situation of the world he found himself in which also led him to other topics, such as the advent of quirks and how they changed the world, space exploration, etc.

'The world as a whole seems much more advanced technologically, provided you exclude Vegapunk's inventions. Democracy though? Why would you leave importants decisions regarding the fate of your country to the ignorant masses to decide?' Akainu scoffed inwardly.

Next was the local laws of the country he was in right now; Japan. He was always the type to work within the confines of the system than to try to change it to suit himself.

At least he was until Aokiji beat him on Punk Hazard and he left to join the Neo Marines, but even that he considered to be more like an unauthorized SWORD type deal. Considering how he whipped them into shape, he would call that a win for the World Government anyways.

Not that any of that mattered now. He had no way of knowing how or if he could go back; he certainly wouldn't consign himself to the void again willingly.

"Boy." Akainu stood from the floor where he had sat as the computer chair was much too small for him. "How does one become a 'Hero' at my age?"

Yes, this was the path for him. There was plenty of evil and chaos to snuff out in this world. It didn't matter that he could not go back to his birth world, there was nothing left for him there but revenge anyways.

"Huh?" Katsuki scratched his head. "I haven't thought about it before. Didn't you Google it?"

"Yes, but the results were not to my satisfaction. It seems Japan prefers its heroes to be indoctrinated from a young age." Akainu said.

"KATSUKI! BRING OUR GUEST DOWN FOR DINNER!" Mitsuki shouted from across the house.

"Maybe ask my old man and old lady." Katsuki said, standing up and tossing his manga aside carelessly. He didn't show it, but the word 'indoctrinated' hadn't escaped his notice. While he didn't exactly agree with the assessment, it got him thinking at the very least. The last thing he wanted to be was a blind sheep.
