章節 40: Chapter Forty: The Mountains of Hell

Hudson:

Leaving her behind earlier had been a mistake, my surprise still in the back of the car. Rushing out to the car, Marie lingered by her SUV. Chain smoking three cigarettes in a row, her hands trembled. Sucking in the nicotine, a cloud of smoke covered her severe features. Running her hands through her hair, a steady stream of curse words escaped her lips. Seeing her pissed me off, my inner wolf begging for me to rip her throat out.

"Why do you hate werewolves anyway?" I interrogated with intrigue, wanting to know what her fucking issue was. Taking a deep suck of her fourth cigarette, she exhaled her cloud into my face. A snarl curled on my lips, my hands waving the smoke out of the way. How rude could a fucking person be?

"A werewolf killed my entire family." She explained coldly, flicking her cancer stick to the loose dirt. "I have every right to kill every single one of you mutts. You are no better than the animals in the forest." My fists clenched to the point of blood dripping onto my black boots, my jaw tightening. Climbing into the driver's seat, a cloud of loose dirt rained over me as she peeled out of the driveway. Opening the trunk, my fingers wrapped around a medium sized black velvet box. Running back in, Evie's head was still buried into the table. Squeezing in next to her, my arms wrapped around her bump.

"Why does she have to be so human?" She mumbled under her breath, her loving gaze meeting mine. "Part of me wants to kill her, the other part wants to save her. Why am I so stupid?" Smiling warmly to myself, seeing her so distraught over an enemy matched her personality with perfection. Rubbing her back, my lips brushed the back of her neck. Of course my Evie would care for our enemy.

"You aren't stupid." I promised tenderly, sliding the box in my hands. "I had this made for you." Sitting up, her real smile brightened her face. Seeing her real smile always made my day, her eyes watching with anticipation as I opened it up. A white quartz wolf necklace shimmered in the yellow light of the diner, a small gasp escaped her lips. Sliding it over her head, tears welled up in her eyes. Wrapping her arms around my neck, her lips kissed mine feverishly. An elderly lady with glistening caramel eyes set down a chocolate shake, her tight white curls bouncing as she set down two straws.

"I remember you kids when you were younger." She chirped cheerfully, her wrinkled hands dusting off her black t-shirt and jeans. "It is so nice to see you two together and expecting. I am so excited. You will have to bring your baby in so I can see their cute little face." Hobbling off, she waved sweetly at our waitress. The bell clanged once more, a furious Grappy stomped over to us, a defiant grin growing on Evie's lips. Well, this was going to be fun. Did he think that I couldn't protect my own wife.

"Do you know what hell you two have put me through?" He fumed hotly, grabbing her by the collar. "You are the worst type of master. Do my words even go into your brain, or is it just air in there?" Her heel smacked his jaw, the crack causing the staff to look up from the kitchen. His grip loosened, her fingers wrapping around the collar of his scarlet t-shirt.

"Who the fuck is the master here?" She retorted venomously, shaking him around. "I want a date night, damn it! Everyone else gets one, and I am treated like a porcelain doll. I am not a fragile toy for everyone to covet! I order you to go home and not seek me until three nights from now. Enjoy your fucking vacation!" Hurt dimmed his eyes, his fingers snapping. Tears streamed down her cheeks, only onyx feathers remaining at her feet. Smashing the milkshake on the floor, she mouthed the words forget, everyone dropping to the vinyl floor. Standing to her feet, her hands clapped. Panic gripped my mind, nothing remaining where she was. Fuck! Did she just ditch me? Placing a five on the table, my feet pounded towards the car. The keys rested on the roof, the engine roared to life. If I were her, my next destination would be Theros' house. Peeling onto the road, my trembling fingers typed in his address. Focusing on the road ahead of me, my fingers drummed on the steering wheel. A couple of hours passed, flickering street lights bathing my exhausted face. Why couldn't a man just take his wife out! Pulling up to the gates, the searchlights fell on me. Waving for them to let me in, an exhausted Theros pushed the door open. Rubbing his eyes, my panic only grew worse.

"I wouldn't be this sleepy now would I?" He yawned groggily, raw concern woke him up. "Let me get dressed and I will help you. Hang tight for me." Rushing off, the minutes ticking by tortured me. Checking my phone a million times, Theros stepped out in a white t-shirt and pair of blue jeans. Throwing a black hoodie over his head, his slender hands tugged on a pair of black leather gloves. Twisting his hair into a ponytail, he shot me a thumbs up.

"First thing first. Did anything happen before she disappeared?" He inquired urgently, sprinting to her car. "Where is Grappy? I thought he was attached to her hip, much to our annoyance." Climbing in, the engine refused to start. The click told me that the battery died, my fingers snapping the steering wheel in half once more. Hopping out of the car, my lips pressed into a thin line.

"They got into a fight at the diner, and she banished him for three days. So unless she breaks the order, we are on our own." I ranted heatedly, pacing back and forth. "Marie said something about the mountains three miles past the diner. Now her battery is dead. Please tell me that you have a car." Holding his hand up, a sharp whistle shattered the stale air. One of his black masked servants pulled up in a sleek silver hearse, the emerald butler suit hugging his slender body. Of course, Theros' car was hearse. As if being living dead wasn't enough.

"Real discreet." I retorted sarcastically, realizing that this was my only option. "Is he going to drive?" Nodding his head, his slender fingers wrapped around my wrists. Dragging me into the back, my body jumped back a couple of feet the moment his driver slammed the door shut. Pitch black bathed us, his glowing red eyes narrowing in my direction. Shivers shot up my spine, the confined space frightening me to death.

"I am a vampire after all. This is an ideal mode of transportation for most of us." He joked lightly, clapping his hands. "We do need all the protection we can get from the sun after all." Icy blue lights flickered to life, his serene face now rife with worry. Crossing his hands, the numb look in his eyes shattered me. Clearly not okay, he began to chew on his nails.

"You need to calm down." I comforted him poorly, his chewing only getting worse. "I mean how bad can one rogue be. I have seen her take on multiple at once and win." Praying that I was right, the hours passed slowly. The awkward silence broke haunted me, my fingers drumming on my lap. The brakes squealed to stop, the mountains looming over us. Marie's SUV was parked in the parking lot. Her clothes were neatly folded, the necklace and glasses shining on the top. Her scent drifted in the gentle breeze, my blade slid down to my eager palms. At least I was at the right spot, a small wave of relief crashing over me. Lightning crackled up my arm, Theros charged ahead of me. Sprinting up the mountain, my breath hitched. Red stained her white fur, a limp rogue resting under her paw. Nausea wracked me, a mess of blood and guts hung out of her snout. Scarlet poured out of her reaper's eye. Even more blood flooded from her ears. Tossing the guts aside, Marie stepped out of the bushes. Pressing the muzzle to her thick skull, a dull haze clouded her eyes. A cloudy stone swung in her hands, Marie commanding her to lay down. Obeying without a single protest, my heart stopped. What kind of magical stone was that? Raising my blade in the attack position, ruby eyes flashed behind her, a single pop scaring us to bits. Marie collapsed onto a jagged rock, the tip sticking out of her chest. A thin layer of red dripped down to her body, a six foot tall man with silver hair and sapphire blue eyes fired a shot into her skull. A sapphire glinted in the handle of a silver rifle with the moons engraved over it, her clothes hanging in his other hand. Sliding her dagger inches from her, bones shifted as she changed back. Turning his back, he threw her clothes in her direction. Throwing her clothes on, her trembling fingers slid on her glasses. A long sigh escaped her lips, her fingers wrapping around the hilt of her dagger.

"I would move, but I can't." She stuttered brokenly, her muscles quaking. "That is how I am when I transform out of cycle, but thank you so much. I love the look." Glancing at his outfit for the first time, he wore a gray blazer over a white t-shirt. Light jeans tickled a pair of expensive sneakers, a wicked grin spreading cheek to cheek on his pale face.

"I see you have a good eye, but you look pretty slick yourself. I am Saphy Delit." He introduced himself gleefully, showing her his foot. "Your husband can come out now, and your little vampire friend." Lifting up his long styled hair, half of his face was sapphire blue. Popping a silver mask over the side, a sigh of relief poured from his lips. Embarrassment burned our faces, my heart fluttering as Evie reached out for me. Her real smile lit up her face, my strong arms scooping her up.

"Are you coming back with us?" I offered sincerely, wanting to pay him back for helping her out. "Garnet is already there." His lips parted to speak, a helicopter hovered above us. A black metal ladder swayed in the wild winds of the helicopter. Dozens of hunters flooded down the ladder, a bead of sweat dripping from her brow. As if this situation couldn't get worse, my teeth gritting with pure annoyance.

"Grappy, I rescind my order." She cried out desperately, a dark energy swirled in the sky. "Hurry up and save us all." Nothing happened, her palm slapping her forehead. A snarl curled on her lips, a steady stream of curse words flooded from her lips. Slamming her fist on the hard dirt, she whined bitterly.

"I forgot! I can't take an order back!" She continued, my expression hardening. "We need to run now. This guy is the new leader of the hunters, and he isn't human." Alas it was too late, a pair of inky black eyes glittered in our direction. His scarlet hair hung halfway down his back, his black lips curling into an evil grin. Snapping his fingers, Evie struggled in his arms. Jealousy flashed in my eyes, his lips smashing into hers. Sinking his fangs into her lips, every attempt to move was broken by an electrical shock to my system. Why did they always do this? God damn it!

"I am Demetry, the dark demon lord of Hatred." He introduced himself proudly, holding Evie by the throat. "You will be tastier than I expected." Her dagger spun in her palm, snow fluttering around us. Saphy rushed towards him, only to be smashed into a nearby tree. A flurry of snow and ice struck Demetry in the face, her body collapsing to the ground. Her scythe spun above her head, her glasses landing in my palms. Whipping out a silver scythe twice his seven foot frame, his fingers snapped once more. All of the hunters dropped to the red soil, their blood flowing into his sleek scythe. Pointing it in her direction, the look on her face told me that she was struggling. Liquid silver swirled around his arm, Evie shaking in place. An idea flashed in my head, my attention turning to Theros and Saphy. Calling them over, they scurried over.

"Go get Grappy. He just couldn't find her but that doesn't mean that you can't bring him here." I ordered sharply, both of them turning to run. "Tell him to bring the silver antidote. Hurry!" Dread bubbled in my gut, knowing that it would at least be a couple of hours. Charging at him, their blades clashed violently, a ribbon of silver cut her cheek. Swinging her heel into his neck, he staggered back. That should have broken his neck, nothing happening. Watching the wheels turn, a malicious smile darkened her face.

"Change to black iron!" She chanted confidently, the material of her blade darkening to black iron. "One more thing, swirl that shit around my arm." Liquid swirled in ribbons around her arm, a bead of sweat dripping down his pale face. The liquid squished into thousands of arrows, her scythe swinging towards his neck. Leaping out of the way just in time, the arrows whizzed in his direction. Shrinking her scythe back down, the silver poisoning was beginning. Black veins lined her face, hundreds of the black iron arrows sticking out of his body. Sinking to the dirt, his fingers snapped.

"I will be back for your ass!" He threatened in a swirl of pure silver, Marie struggling to breath. Evie crouched down to her level, her pained smile and blood pouring from her ears told me that the screams were torturing her. A bloody photo fluttered in her hand, her hand cupping hers with the photo. Even in a moment like this, she was willing to send someone to Heaven. Her kindness knew no bounds, her heart far more forgiving than mine.

"I am going to send you to Heaven with your girl, so hold on." She promised sweetly, teardrops mixing with the growing pool of red. "No one deserves this type of death." Marie choked on blood, her head shaking.

"I don't deserve to go to Heaven." She gurgled, red flowing over her chin. "I hunted you down when you guys are just as human as us. I am sorry." Yanking her off, red painted the white on her dress as she held her to her chest. Shaking her head, she fixed Marie's hair.

"Now we can't have you leaving without perfect hair. The moment I saw you holding a tear soaked photo, I knew you were good deep down. I apologize on the behalf of the werewolf who killed your family." She apologized sincerely, wails exploding from Marie's lips. "I think everyone does bad things not because they want to but because something pushed them that way. I hope you get reborn into a better life, so go to sleep for the last time." Taking her last breath, her hand with the photo went limp. Dragging her to a flat rock, her fingers flicked until white flames danced on her finger tips. Touching her heart, flames spread over her body. Crossing her arms, the photo rested in the center of her chest. Stepping back, her hand asked for her glasses. Several reapers gathered around the flat rock, a ball of light floating into the sky. Falling to her knees, the poisoning was getting to her. Swaying forward, my strong arms wrapped around her body. Tucking her dagger into her boot, her head rested against my chest. Shivering in my arms, ice crept up her arms. Her power was taking over, the reapers leaving abruptly. The ice melted, her skin burning hotter than Hell. Placing her on my back, groans escaped her lips. Crashing down the mountain, black feathers mixed with the snow. Grappy landed gracefully next to me, passing me the antidote.

"I can't help her, but you can." He growled through gritted teeth, agony claiming his face. "I will see you at home." Jamming the needle into her neck, her veins faded back to normal. Gentle sobs shook her body, my lips kissing the top of her head. Passing out in my arms, it was going to be a long walk back to the diner. The owls hooted away, crickets chirping. Regret and guilt mixed in her eyes, my inner wolf feeling her pain as well.

"Put me down." She whispered sweetly, her quivering eyes meeting mine. "I am so broken right now." Setting her down, head bowed. Her bangs hid her eyes, the tears flowing faster than before. Climbing on top of a big rock, a scream exploded from her lips. Only in nature did she feel this comfortable to let everything out.

"I miss Grappy so much!" She wept remorsefully, crossing her legs. "I wish he could be here right now so I could apologize to him in person. I just lost my temper and I am so fucking horny that it hurts so much. Am I not sexy to you any more?" My ears perked up at the last statement, her narrowed eyes shooting daggers in my direction. Her pout made her sexier, my cock hardening. Peeling off my shirt, her breath hitched. Grabbing her hands, scarlet burned her cheeks as I rubbed her hands against my abs. A moan escaped her lips, the tension in her body melting away.

"I want you to take me any way you want." I promised lovingly, dropping my pants with a soft thud. "Do everything you want. I have been ignoring your needs all day, and I do regret it all. Play away." Sliding down the rock, her sweet lips wrapped around my thick girth. Taking me all in, her tongue flicked underneath my head. Gruff groans flowed from my lips, her speed picking up. Grabbing her head, a shiver of pleasure ran up my spine as she allowed me to move her head back and forth. Claws extended from my fingers, my claws snagging on her lacy underwear. Ripping them off, she cried lustfully as I tore her sweater in half. Unclasping her bra, her round breasts bounced out. Tracing my fangs along her skin, her body writhed with every single love bite. Lifting her onto my shaft, her arms wrapped around my neck. Leaning against the rocks, our hips danced to the same rhythm. Flipping me over, her fangs sank into my neck without warning.

"Evie!" I growled huskily, loving the sound of her drinking my blood. "This feels amazing." Her hips ground against mine, her slick body pressed against mine. Cupping her round ass, blood dripped from the corner of her lips. Leaning against the rock, her shaking hand shoved me in. Bending her over, my left hand held her bump while my palm pressed against the cool rock. Bucking wildly, her screams echoed in the still night air. Grinding her lips with mine, my gasps grew shorter. Seconds from cumming deep within her, my hands held her hips still as my hot seed filled her up. Leaning back into my arms, her wicked grin matched her evil giggle. Still in a daze, the session proved to be amazing as always.

"Now was that so hard, you naughty boy!" She teased sensually, stealing my shirt. "You could have saved my dress, so now you don't have a shirt." A hearse was pulling up in the distance, my quaking hands tugging on my jeans. Theros leapt out, his body smashing into her arms. Spinning her around, a curious grin danced across his lips at the sight of the t-shirt on her instead of me. Placing the pieces together, his eyes rolled.

"It fell off in my fight." She chirped awkwardly, waving her hands. "So don't worry about that." Theros cocked his brow, the way he smiled told me that he knew. Poking one of her love bites, she shrugged her shoulders. Leaping over him, the way he chased after her reminded me of siblings. Playing a small game of tag, her genuine smile told me that she was happy once more. Whistling to them, it was time to go. Flipping me off, they both climbed into the back of the hearse. Closing the door behind us, my heart flipped as she leapt onto my lap. Wrapping my arms around her bump, her head snuggled into my shoulder. Theros rolled his eyes, my shoulders shrugged. Thank goodness that she was mine and only mine.
