Unusually, Justin's mind said so as he saw Paris laughing with the rest of their hunter friends. In the small crowd, Noah Denvers told a silly joke. Some of the others laughed while others rolled their eyes in boredom.
Maybe it was Justin's chance to get close to his twin sister. They haven't had intense communication between siblings for a long time. It wasn't Justin's will to be away from his own twin sister. He wanted to be together again between them. Just like they went through. Like a pair of shoes carried everywhere by the owner.
Sitting beside Paris, Justin looked at Niall who stopped noticing the young man's arrival.
"Hi, Just," Noah waved his hand as a greeting. "Can I ask something?"
Justin ignored Paris' reaction which seemed to treat him like an invisible human. "Go ahead."
"Why does the chicken cross the road?"
Shrugging, Justin pouted and replied, "I don't know."
"Because the female waiting across the street has been taken by another male."
Spontaneous, bubbling laughter filled the small crowd. Paris was the only one who didn't respond with laughter. She looked embarrassed to be approached by her twin brother. Then, the girl chose to avoid the crowd.
"Paris." Justin got up from his seat and jogged after his sister who was nonchalant. "Paris, stop."
In the end, Paris stopped. She turned to Justin, looking at his reflection in another form that had been living with her. After all, she couldn't lie to herself that what she had been doing all this time was outrageous.
"You have one minute to talk to me," Paris said coldly as usual.
"Come with me hunting in the Royal Building. Grandma asked us to go after Cassandra Victor."
In return, Paris gave a short laugh. "No. I prefer to hunt elsewhere. I'll go to the vampire's lair too. Instead of hunting with you anymore."
"Don't act like a child, Paris. Get rid of your envy towards your twin brother."
Justin's right on target made Paris even more embarrassed. She glanced at the watch wrapped around her wrist. "One minute has passed. Bye, Justin."
Ignoring Justin's last sentence, Paris walked away, leaving Justin frozen in place. All Justin did was watch Paris leave without a word. He took a deep breath, then let it out roughly.
Someone touched Justin's shoulder suddenly. A gentle tap of Jane's hand on Justin's shoulder was able to jolt the young man out of his thoughts. He turned to the side to find Jane standing and looking down at Paris who had disappeared into her tent.
"That's enough. You know yourself that your sister is stubborn." Jane smiled encouragingly.
"My mother must be disappointed in me." Again, Justin took a deep breath.
"Gradually she will stop being so childish." Jane touched Justin's arm, giving him a code with her chin. "Come join us for lunch."
"Just go ahead. I did not participate."
Jane pouted grimly at Justin's answer. Even so, he respected whatever the young man said. Disappointed, Jane leaves Justin for another group of vampire hunters who are about to start their lunch hour.
Sure enough, Justin refused the lunch invitation. Because he prefers to think about the tactics of capturing Cassandra Victor at the Royal Building than joining lunch with the others. He would sort it out tonight, then appoint a few of his friends to come with him.
