When she returned to her office, Zen sat in her desk chair and replayed what Christian had said in her head.

Christian seemed to have given her a choice, but, in reality, he had already figured out what she would choose.

She looked at the phone on the table and hesitation flashed in her eyes, but eventually, she gritted her teeth and picked it up.

Zen dialed the doctor's phone number.

As soon as the call was answered, Zen asked, "Has Wendy arrived yet?"

"Not yet, but I think she'll be here soon," the doctor replied.

"Listen, don't tell anyone, especially Wendy, about my call to you, okay?" Zen was trembling, but her tone was firm.
