Even though Wendy was married to an extremely wealthy man, the truth was that she was even poorer than the average employee at the company. 

Christian's promise that he would pay her a salary ten times higher than Michael did make her feel moved beyond words. After all, she was going to leave Michael in two months.

Her fetus would be almost four months old by then. Pregnancy, childbirth, and childrearing were all processes that required money. If she could smoothly obtain one hundred thousand dollars over the next two months, it would be enough money to last her for a while, provided she saved up and spent wisely. Therefore, she did not pretend to refuse Christian's offer.

"Thank you very much, Mr. Lucas," said Wendy as she bowed slightly.

"Alright, go ahead and do your own things," said  Christian as he opened another game and stared at his screen once again.
