章節 29: Chapter 29: Death and ways to hold her down

I understand her; even if it were me, I would be so upset. It wasn't my fault that the bastard king chose me over her adopted daughter. I know it's unfair, but what should I do? I have a pack to feed on.

As I walked my way to the parking lot where my car was, I found the human mate of the king standing behind my car. When she sensed that I was looking at her, she turned her head towards me and smiled bitterly.

"Give my mate back to me, please," she said before bursting into tears. She even bent her knees in front of me and held me on my legs. She has eyebags on her eyes; her hair is messy and sticks slightly. "Please give him back to me. I'm begging you," she said, pleading with me. She started to cry, and it made me feel so guilty.

"Do you think we made the right choice, Claw?" I asked my wolf spirit, feeling guilty.

"I think we made a mistake. I can't stomach her watching her cry, begging for us to give back her mate to her."

"Should we.. Uhm.. end it with the king?"

"I'm thinking about that too, but what if he does something in our pack?"

Claw and I heaved a sigh in unison.

"Look," I said to the lady. "Why don't you speak to your mate instead of me? If you explain everything to him, I'm sure he'll understand it," I told her.

"You're a woman. You know how I feel right now. I know you will understand me," she sobbed.

I removed her hands from my thighs. And then I reluctantly let her sprawl on the ground. I got in the car and maneuvered, leaving her. As the car drove away, I looked in the front mirror of the vehicle. I saw her crying her heart out in a fetal position as the rain started to fall.

I was feeling guilty. In my desperation for financial need, I hurt someone. I stepped on the gasoline and sped up the car while biting my finger out of guilt.

When I got to the packhouse, I went straight to the kitchen to ask the omega to brew coffee for me.

"Here you go, Alpha," she said, smiling at me as I sat in front of the pantry.

"Hey," I heard a pregnant woman say. As usual, the smell of sex on her pissed me off. Can she wash first before going down to meet me?

"You smell like shit again," I told her disgustingly.

She smirked at me and told me that she was proud of it. She then pulled a chair in front of me and studied my face.

"You look so down today. Why? Did you and the king fight or something?" she asked.

I heaved a sigh.

"The human mate of the king begs me to break up with him. I feel so guilty about the whole situation," I replied.

Blanch didn't speak but just stared at me.

"You know, you don't have to worry about us," she said. "If you feel like this is wrong and you're stepping on someone, you have to stop," she added.

I was on my bed and still thinking about what Blanch said. I can't sleep a wink. I got up from my bed and decided to check the journal that belonged to Stacey.

When I opened the first page, I saw a piece of paper fall to my feet.

"Meet me tomorrow at Stacey's house around nine in the morning. I have something to tell you."

"Stacey's mother left this house to me," I said to Onix as we entered Stacey's house.

"So, what do you plan to do with it?" he asked sadly.

"Do you want me to give you this place's land and house title? All of Stacey's memories are here. She's your mate and-"

"That— I need to move on. When she was still alive, I promised her that I wouldn't mourn and hurt myself," he answered me before approaching a bookshelf. "She showed me this secret room," he said before pulling the most miniature book, and suddenly the shelf rattled, and it moved to the left. From its former place, a medium-sized door appeared in their eyes. "She has most of her investigation hidden here just in case," he said before opening it and letting it open voluntarily.

Onix then stepped inside, and I followed him shortly.

The door closed automatically. I could even hear the bookshelf move, and probably it returned from its original place. Onix proceeded to turn on the lights. I was surprised when I saw rows upon rows of books and things I never saw during my visits here when she was still alive. I saw a bed and a small kitchen in the corner of the room.

"Stacey spends her free time here," he said before handing me a map he picked up.

"She told me to give this to you. It is the way where the hermit lives that she showed to you in her memory," he said.

I accepted the map and then slipped it into the pocket of my jacket. While I was doing that, I saw that Onix had picked up a thick book, and based on my vision, it was an old book that may have been centuries old.

"This book belongs to the palace. It was hidden somewhere inside the palace's library," he said. "Stacey once told me that she needed a book that was old enough to study," he added. "At first, I was puzzled why she wanted to study our history. And so I thought about a book that was hidden away from us. Luckily no one bothered to know the whereabouts of the books since its language was written in something we don't understand. But Stacey dedicated her time to translate it into this book," he said before he pulled another book, and when he opened it, it was Stacey's handwriting.

I sat in front of Onix as I began to read Stacey's handwriting and the translation of the book.

"To whom who can ever read this and understand this book content, I wish you can keep it a secret for many have died trying to spread my book's content."

"Stacey told me that the book was written in Sanskrit letters. She traveled abroad to meet her favorite professor way back during her college days. She helped her translate the book."
