Tuesdays were always Vin's favorite because it was the day he could easily rest and move around. Holding onto a bucket and adjusting his hood, Vin hummed a song he had picked from his brain, not wanting to disturb some knights in training with his hideous voice.
"Hey, Horse boy!" he heard someone call. Not wanting to answer, Vin continued walking away without increasing or reducing his speed.
"Am I not calling you?" the male who had called said, pushing him to turn around.
"What?" Vin asked straightforwardly and effortlessly.
"Oh, so it's 'what' you choose to say. Don't you know I'm your senior in everything and I see you pass here without saying any greetings?" the male, posing as a bully, said while his friends smiled.
"So you stopped me to say those words," shaking his head in pity, Vin said, "How childish."
"I knew that is what you would say and do. So, you have a choice, either you greet or you regret it, Horse boy."
"Fine, Good Morning," Vin greeted, trying to cool down his own anger.
"Good Morning? You think you can pull off a show like that and top it off with Good Morning?"
"If you don't mind, I have to get water for the horses who seem to have more brain cells than you," Vin spat at the male who couldn't take it anymore.
"That's it!" The male landed a blow on Vin, but someone caught his hand.
"That's enough!" It was a familiar voice.
"Mister Snow, I-I-" There was visible fear on the male's face.
"There is no need for that, Ryan. I'll see you later," he told the knight who snorted towards Vin.
"Are you okay?" Snow directed this question to Vin.
"I never asked for your help, I could have taken care of that knight by myself!" Vin snapped at Snow, who never showed a change in facial expression.
"No, you couldn't. That is an A-ranked knight, and before you could ever imagine defeating someone like him, you would need years of special training. In short, you are no match for him," Snow underestimated Vin, whose eyes twitched.
[I'm a living weapon who can destroy anything or anyone], Vin's mind became loaded with thoughts as he faced Snow, whose eyes went wide open.
"Anything?"
"No, nothing at all."
"Anyway, I need to get water for the horses," Vin broke their discussion, knowing the mage had sensed something just by looking at his eyes.
"What is your name?" Snow asked him.
"Stable boy!" Vin replied sharply, trying to signal to the mage that he wanted to leave.
"Why do you pass through this route to get to the Well?" Snow's question made him miss a step forward.
"I use this opportunity to watch the knights training, even though it is really prohibited to pass through."
"Is that so?"
"Yes! You think I would lie?"
"No, but your eyes tell a different story." Approaching him, Snow handed a scroll that he brought from nowhere in particular. "I know you want to enroll. Fill this form up, and it will get to my table immediately."
Taking the scroll, Vin asked, "How?"
"Magic."
Holding the scroll tightly, Vin took a deep breath as the sun slowly set. He never knew time flew at such an immense speed.
"Okay, understood," he said but soon realized Snow had long gone. Probably disappeared into the mist or something. "That's why you should never trust a mage."
_________
Trying to complete his daily task, Vin strolled down to the Well, his eyes furrowed and the scroll kept secured in his pocket.
The words of Snow echoed in his mind, and the voices of the knight kept ringing in his head, until he realized it wasn't a ringing,
"So, the stable boy decided to show up by the well, huh?" the knight from earlier blurted out. Behind him were some new friends.
"I have never seen someone as despicable as you, Ryan!" Vin said, remembering the name Snow called. "Throughout my years, I haven't heard or seen a bullying knight. This is going to be fun."
"Who do you think you are addressing?" The knight drew his sword out. "I hate barbarians like you."
Rushing towards him with full speed, the knight kept his eyes on the weak points to be able to hit.
His main target was Vin's knee.
"Time to fall from that stupid pride of yours, stable boy."
Although Vin dodged the attack, he knew why this male was ranked A; From the speed to agility, and mostly balance, he was exceptional.
[So, this is the reason why Snow underestimated me to this bottom feeder? I'm in the body of a god-like creature, and I got underestimated!] With anger and fury in his heart, Vin gripped the knight by the shoulder, tight enough to grab hold of the bone.
'CRACK'
A fracture was heard, and with ease, he flung the knight into the well, which broke because of the force.
"Never underestimate me!" Vin directed his words at the knight and most likely his friends.
"Freak!"
Vin looked back right after hearing this. As he saw the knight had jumped up from the well, dripping wet and burning in wrath. Seeing Ryan could still be able to stand up, Vin was really impressed.
"You deserve the title, Ryan. But I won't fight you." Vin surrendered, holding onto his bucket, which already had some water.
"Why do you give up now, freak? You broke my bone and now retreating?! Why?" The knight thundered as his friends ran to his aid.
"If I fight you, you will die."
Moving away from the scene, Vin clearly saw the knight kicking the bricks from the destroyed well in frustration.
On an apple tree's branch not too far away, Snow sat down, watching the whole scene. He mumbled,
"That boy is something else entirely."
