Viv had been right about leaving last night. I didn’t sleep as well as I usually do. Not that Alpha’s sleep much to begin with. Comes with the territory of the job.

I replayed every interaction I had with Brenna since she first came to Varick Manor. There were so many chances I could have taken to talk with her, but I never followed through with the opportunity.

Now here I was in my office, still replaying every missed moment with my mate. That was if she’d even have me after all this.

Would she even stay? At least as an employee? That would be the best possible outcome if she turned me down.

I could live with the fact my mate didn’t choose me. That wasn’t the issue at all.

For so long, I thought I’d have to marry for alliances, just as my father wanted, but after he passed, I could entertain the notion of marrying the one I was supposed to be with.
