*3 Months Later*

“Mom, you don’t need to fuss over me, I’m fine,” I smile at my mom across the dining table and then turn my attention back to the plate filled with chicken and vegetables.

“I just want to make sure you’re okay with being here,” she smiled sadly, looking between me and my dad who is more focused on the television behind me. “You’ve been here for a couple of months now, Remi. I feel terrible that you came back here because of a boy and had to quit a job that you loved.”

“Don’t remind me, Mom,” I murmur and lift my eyes to hers. “Besides, I have been productive since moving back here. I may not have a job, but I did finish my manuscript and sent it around to some agents.”

“Is anyone interested yet?” she asks with a raised brow, curious.
