Derek continued drumming his fingers on the desk without looking at Luke. His lips were pursed and his gaze was intense. Then he stood up abruptly and turned to the door.
"Lets go back to the mansion." He simply said and left.
Luke got up quickly and followed limping slightly as he went. He thought he would be put behind bars right from here until he heard Derek telling the officer to grant him bail till the first court hearing. He had expected the worse, so this came as both a surprise and relief.
He knew Derek would still ask him questions. And he would answer all of it. It as not surprising to him that Derek did not trust him. I mean, who would trust the ally of an enemy?
He followed Derek to the car and sat at the back seat. Jeremiah was already at the driver's side waiting for Derek to get in. He was having a word with the chief inspector of the station on matters concerning the criminal in their custody.
