"Really. Are you telling the truth? If I get this special scroll of secrets from the Hokage building, then I will be able to get into a special program that will allow me to become a ninja of the village." Naruto exclaimed in excitement as he looked at the white-haired teacher in front of him.
"When have I ever lied to you Naruto? All I want for my students is to see them succeed. Now, if you are up for the special test, then follow these instructions, and bring me the scroll of secrets at this location by midnight. I'll be waiting." And with a warm smile, Mizuki walked away, leaving a thinking Naruto on the swing.
"Damn, Hiroki ni-san, you were right. That snake really asked me to steal the scroll of secrets. What a dumbass. Does he really think I'm still a 3-year-old kid?" Naruto spat in disgust as he talked with Hiroki inside his mind.
"Well, that would be the limit of what a low-level mob character can think of. But you also played a part in his decision. You did some really fine acting for the past four years, acting all depressed and showing your 'true' thoughts to the shadows. You played your part very well. Hell, sometimes, even I was worried if you might actually be depressed." Hiroki chuckled.
"Yeah, you don't have to worry about that. Now, anyway, what do I do with this? Obviously, we can't go to the Hokage. Last we checked, he was possessed by someone. You confirmed it with your powers. (Library of Heaven's Path works on the techniques displayed by people. Hiroki saw the Spirit Possession Technique being used on Hiruzen through Naruto.) And from what we predicted, this might be the start of that person's plans. I'm guessing this is the impetus that the person working in the shadows is waiting for.
When I stupidly steal this scroll, I will be arrested. Then, that person will have enough dirt on me to label me dangerous and that I need to be controlled fully, hence dragging me to the shadow organization.
So, I think the best course of action now should be to follow our original plan, correct?" Naruto asked Hiroki.
"Yep. I think now is the time we have to get the ball moving. Go and steal the Scroll of Secrets, and get to the meeting spot." With that, Naruto disappeared from the swing in a blur, instantly arriving at the tall Hokage building.
Following the directions on the scroll that Mizuki provided, Naruto found his path unobstructed and without any traps.
"Seriously, even an academy student can tell that this is suspicious. If this scroll is so precious and this is a test, why is there nothing blocking the path." Naruto grumbled as he continued on his path.

"Hokage-sama. Naruto Uzumaki stole the Scroll of Secrets."
"What, now? Just when more than half the jonin are out of the village? Damn it." Hiruzen cursed as he deployed all the available personnel on Naruto's tail.

"Danzo-sama. Naruto Uzumaki took the bait. He is currently at the meeting spot waiting for Mizuki to arrive. Should we go now?" A faceless masked man asked.
"Lets go now. Soon, the Nine tails jinchuriki will be in my full control. Hahahahahahahah!!" A mummified man laughed evilly.

"So this was the plan. Whoever opens the scroll will have the Body and Chakra Bind Seal sprung on them, effectively making for an on-command total paralysis seal. Gotta hand it to them, the seal is quite good. But not enough to trap a seal expert." Naruto smirked as he quickly disabled the seal's function of jumping onto whoever opened it and began to read the contents to his heart's content.
"Hey look, there's dad's technique in here. By god, was he terrible at naming techniques. There's also the multi-shadow clone jutsu that you taught me. Spirit possession technique of Dan Kato, Impure Reincarnation, Eight Trigrams Sealing, Fury, …. Wow, there are so many kinjutsus in here. I wonder if I could learn a few, hehe." Naruto chuckled along with Hiroki who shamelessly copied the contents into their own mindscapes.
"Stop right there, Naruto. Hand over the scroll and you will have passed the exam." Mizuki suddenly appeared and called out to naruto.
"Did I really pass? That's so cool, will I have my own headband now. These village forehead protectors look so awesome. Show me, show me." Naruto, seeing the arrival of the traitor started to act childishly as he walked up to the man.
"Here you go. Now, put it on, and let me see how you look." Mizuki said as he handed Naruto a red-colored headband.
"Here I go. Now I will officially become a Ninja of the Hidden Leaf." In excitement, Naruto hurriedly put on the headband, ignoring the obvious X-shaped seal on the underside.
FREEZE.
Suddenly, dense markings crawled out of the headband, instantly covering the forehead of the boy, who froze up, and his eyes lost their light.
"Well done, Mizuki. Well done. I'll put in a good word about your work to Orochimaru. I'm sure he would be happy to have his spy's status increased in the village. Also, here, give this to him. He has been hounding me about it for a long time. Consider it a return gift for the control seal for the jinchuriki brat." As soon as the seals spread around Naruto's head, Danzo arrived in all his mummified glory, and tossed Mizuki a small scroll, likely containing some samples of some poor clan member killed in 'action'.
"Thanks, Danzo sama. I will take my leave now." with that, only Naruto and Danzo stood in the wide clearing, while the whole village was now looking for the brat who stole the village's secret scroll.

DaoistLeon We all know that Mizuki was working for Orochimaru, but how was it that a mere chunnin was able to escape the senses of all the various Konoha ninjas when he was so shit he was able to be defeated by Naruto.
Well, I think that Danzo knew about this, and that's why he was able to work in Konoha without any problems.
Just in this AU, I changed it so that Mizuki didn't steal the scroll for Orochimaru, but did it as an order from his boss's partner (Orochimaru's partner Danzo).
