Aslan and Rosie once tried to use the eagle that Master Rufus gave them. Rosie would blow her whistle three times to summon the eagle and then send a blank letter to Aslan. With two small pieces of cloth belonging to Rosie and Aslan, the eagle could always find Aslan who was hiding in the middle of the forest and also made it back to Rosie perfectly.

That way, they could use the eagle to communicate for the next three years.
