"If I physically find your heart, can I kill you?" 

"Of course." He grinned. "If you really want my life that much, I will allow you to take it. But only you and no one else." 

"You're willing to risk everything you've built up so far?"

He had been expecting her to press for the details on how exactly to kill him, but surprisingly, she did not. 

"I know you think I do everything for power." He smiled, but the smile was more lonely than anything, like that of a ruler sitting so far up that he couldn't even see the faces of his people. "But power doesn't make me happy."

"Then why do you keep pursuing it?"

His laughter echoed throughout the balcony, bouncing off the ways and amplifying. "That's something someone who never had to worry about losing control would say. Without power, I wouldn't be here with you today, Princess." 

She grew silent.
