On a considerably huge wooden table that could easily fit a family of 5, 2 people, or precisely, 2 humanoid demons were currently sitting on both ends of the table.
People usually sit on the complete opposite of a large table if it was either a formal setting or there was an invisible distance keeping the two people from sitting close to each other.
However, in this case, neither of the two was the reason for it.
The reason why Blake and Vera sat on both ends of the table was that the middle of the table was filled with large plates of food, varying from head-sized roasted bird meat, crispy fried pork, finger-sized battered fried bird meat, and also a few vegetables that worked as the palette cleanser in the heaps of varying meat dishes.
And different from Vera that could just use the large plate to eat the whole thing sitting on top of that plate, Blake didn't have that much room in his stomach and he actually needed to cut or take a portion of those huge meals and bring it to his own little separate plate.
Hence the reason why Blake was sitting so far away from Vera was that there was simply no room for him to sit too close to her.
Furthermore, the demoness with the slender body ate with such a huge fervor and enthusiasm that Blake wouldn't want to bother her while she was in 'the zone' when eating those dishes that he had made with love, passion, and most importantly, hard work.
His cooking skill had improved quite considerably after coming to the demon realm since he was forced to be creative with his cooking because he needed to find a similar tasting spice to the ones he knew back on earth and experiment with it by cooking cow-sized boars or a whale-sized crow.
And seeing someone eating his cooking with such enthusiasm made his heart happy, albeit he still felt quite helpless when seeing his hours of hard work gone in half an hour with Vera's eating capabilities.
Vera usually stayed silent the whole time she was eating as if it was a sacred time for her, but this time, as she finishes her fourth plate of bird meat, Vera actually stopped grabbing the next plate of bird meat and spoke,
"So, you wanna tell me about what you're up to this past week?"
Blake, who was slowly taking his time eating his meal, chewing every cut of meat slowly, savoring their inherent savory taste added with the tinge of sweetness from the sauce, was caught off-guard by Vera's unusual habit and almost choked on a long strand of vegetable.
But he quickly downed it to his stomach before answering
"A lot!"
Blake then made sure that he had no food in his mouth before he continued speaking, "I fought different kinds of demonic beasts, from the weaker ones to the very strong ones that could destroy a small chunk of the forest with their bloodline power! I also tried to create another original spell, but it was currently still in its development stage."
Vera, who was already curious ever since she saw Blake's progress and how much he had grown a moment earlier said again,
"Do you want to tell me more about it?"
Blake's reply came instantaneously, "Sure!"
Blake then proceeded to tell Vera about his adventure so far.
He told her about the different creatures that he met the more he traveled into the depth of the forest and how he found out that the stronger the creature was, the tastier their soul was, and how it gives more strength to his body compared to the weaker creatures.
He worded it exactly like that as he didn't know how to describe how he got a different number of souls from only one soul, as it was probably the system's way of making it easier for him to understand his progress.
First, Blake told her how Robus really helped him travel in the forest since the gorilla could easily traverse several times the distance he could ever travel in the same amount of time and how the gorilla had large stamina that was seemingly infinite.
"Robus? Is that the friend you've been talking about before?" Vera asked him with curiosity.
Blake had told her about his new friend after he told her about how his bloodline power worked. And she was genuinely curious how Blake could actually converse with an unevolved demonic beast with ease.
"Bring him here sometimes, I want to see him."
"Sure!"
He then told her about the huge crow that had the bloodline power that enabled the crow to release a wind tornado that was capable of uprooting trees and cutting thick tree trunks, which made Vera curious and asked him how he defeated it.
Blake, of course, happily told her about how he baited the crow to dive head first onto a thick earth pillar before binding both of its wings, and also its body down on the ground before exploding its head.
Blake also told her about the monkeys that might have seemed less dangerous than the crow, but actually were several times more dangerous and how he would have been clearly defeated if not for his gorilla friend helping him fight them.
Their agility and bloodline power was perfect for the hit-and-run technique. And with four of them in a group, then even Blake would be having a severe headache if he had to deal with them alone.
"I would be dead if not for Robus taking most of their attention and giving me the chance to catch them off-guard." Blake released a sigh after picturing the monkeys in his head.
After Blake finished telling Vera his story, she nodded in understanding as she finally understood more about how Blake could progress so much in such a short time.
And the reason for that was because he ran around in the forest everywhere, killing all the demons he met along the way and eating their souls.
Most of the demons hunted when they felt hungry and wanted to eat.
And they couldn't just simply defeat all the demons they encountered along the way since they also need to be conscious about their strength and make sure that they didn't poke a tiger's tail when they were just a small cat, it would literally cost them their lives.
They need to find the right enemy and eat their soul slowly, very slowly until they feel a significant strength boost, or a level-up in Blake's case, before trying to challenge stronger enemies.
But Blake was different.
He was very good with spells and his intelligence was off the chart compared to the demonic beasts.
With the varying spells that he was capable of casting and the strategy that he built in his mind, and not to say his demon friend that was strong enough to have his own domain in the forest, Blake was able to easily fight creatures that would be considered stronger than himself and eat their souls.
And hence why his progress was never heard before, and simply impossible in the lower realms.
'It might be possible for someone in the deeper realms that had the help of factions to do this, but in this realm… It's simply impossible.' Vera thought in her mind before shaking her head to stop thinking about the complicated stuff in the deeper realms.
"You're really amazing Blake, you really are. You're even more amazing than me when I was still at your level of strength." Vera genuinely complimented.
It was such a simple compliment that consists of only 2 sentences, but Blake could feel the genuine feelings behind those words and added with the fact that it came from someone that he was a fan of, Blake couldn't help but feel his heart racing and his face getting hotter.
"Th… Thanks." He replied, barely able to keep his excitement inside.
However, despite his best try to hide it, and although his body, face, and complexion looked fairly normal, Blake forgot about one thing.
And that was his wings.
Even though his face was only showing a relatively straight face with a tinge of gratefulness for the compliment, the small wings on his back were practically moving back and forth like an excited puppy's tail.
And seeing this, Vera couldn't help but let out a chuckle from across the table.
"What is wrong? Why are you laughing at me?" Blake asked when he saw Vera suddenly laugh while looking at him.
"No, no, it's nothing," Vera said as she covered her laughing mouth and calmed herself down.
"Come to think of it, I want to get some breath of fresh air. Do you want me to teach you how to control and use your wings?" Vera asked while taking another plate and started eating once again.
Upon Vera mentioning his wings, Blake then realized the feeling of his wings literally wagging back and forth earlier and he quickly answered "Y…Yes!" Before shoving another meat inside his mouth to hide his embarrassment.
